Rule 78.4, Disallowed Goals

Apparent goals shall be disallowed by the Referee and the appropriate announcement made by the Public Address Announcer for the following reasons: (i) When the puck has been directed, batted or thrown into the net by an attacking player other than with a stick.

So then why are pucks redirected off skate but not kicked allowed?

I mean the redirect by a non stick should mean no goal

I can see the reasoning behind it, but I'd have to see the specific rule that prevents that



Edit: I guess that covers it, but I'd like to see that called a goal

If he was just standing there and it went off his helmet, it would have been a goal. Happened to Leclair I believe in the 5OT game against the Pens in 2001. But Shaw launched himself in the air and head-butted it in deliberately. I can see why it was disallowed.

Yup, makes no sense. The NHL now has to reassess the "kicked in" rule. What a joke.

Just graduated and don't have a job yet....my night owl tendencies of staying up til 4am are getting the best of me. This game could go another several OTs and I'd still be up . I do wanna watch an episode or two of House of Cards so hopefully it ends soon lol.
