All of these guys were non-drafted Rangers* acquired as pros mostly via trade in which we GAVE UP ASSETS. This is mostly if not all under the current regime. How on the planet we call Earth, do any of these scouts including the GM still currently have employment in the NHL? Every single one of these players save for JT is hot garbage, and JT's legs are medium-well if not cooked. I didn't include Blake Wheeler because for league min basically you can't throw shade at that one.
Trouba had a couple decent years here early on and proceeded to be utter cow shit. I'll give them credit I guess for the Panarin signing, but I don't think it took a rocket scientist to determine that signing Artemi f***ing Panarin would probably work out. Zibanejad trade was a home run obviously but that was eons ago and he blows now conveniently after we locked him up long term.
There's two guys I thought were huge W's for us: Vatrano and Gustaffson. Of course those were the two guys we let go via free agency. But we signed WILL f***ING BORGEN long term. You cannot make this shit up.
So, in summary: We can't draft impact forwards in the first half of the first round, and we can't assess talent at the NHL level. We have to have the worst pro scouting department, and possibly the worst total scouting department in the entire NHL.
