The question I'm asking myself right now is: Did Torts' system make average defenders look good (Moore, MDZ, Stralman) and did it make good defenders look great (McD, Girardi, Staal)? Giving it another 10 - 15 games to answer it, but I'm starting to get worried. I mean look at what the Devils iced up front. Looks pretty ridiculous. Yes, much of it was on Hank, but then again, can let the opposition get to the rebounds so easily.
interesting post. I do agree that Tort's system was very defensive minded. A collapsing defense around the net will usually lead to a real good defense with great Goals against average for the Goalie.
It will be interesting to see how things evolve this year. It would not surprise me to see AV change his system around to change it into a defensive system also. This is the strength of this team. Hank, Staal, McD, Girardi and etc on defense
