Pre-Game Talk: Ottawa @ Toronto - Game 2 - Tuesday 7:30

Rielly-Carlo ranked out pretty bad on the Game Score in Game 1. Hopefully it’s just a one off because they’ve been strong together since Carlo settled in shortly after the TDL.

Don’t want to see breakdowns like on Ottawa’s first goal or Mo hand the Sens another breakaway again.
Carlo’s probably thinking how did I get stuck with this stiff?

Accumulative value is what matters, playoff's is a war of attrition, every hit counts……..
Exactly. Get hit 4 or 5 times a night in a 7 game series and ot doesn't matter who you are. The body is starting to wear down.

Gave such a good effort in game 1… please don’t come for game 2 like a wet rag. Make it easier on yourselves and go up 2-0.

Maybe go to a Senators forum - - or a Penguins forum - - this is a Leafs one.
What?!?! Did you accidentally reply to the wrong post? What about my post is not appropriate for a Leafs forum?

I said their goalie played poorly (he did). I said they might play tentative next game because our PP made them pay for reckless play and a lack of discipline (it did) and that even if they play well and get better goaltending it probably won't be enough because the Leafs are the better team...in every way.

Care to explain your confusing comment?

Doubt we dominate like we did in game 1, extremely hard to do that consistently in the playoffs. Sens were running around like idiots, playing dirty and taking undisciplined penalties, and we absolutely destroyed them on the PP - they probably clean that up.

Of course I would love another blowout, but I’ll take any sort of win. Get the W and the pressure is seriously on for Ottawa!

We won’t get as many PPs and furthermore we won’t score at such a high rate on the PP.

This series is far from over and we collectively as hockey fans know that even a 2-0 lead doesn’t mean anything. It’s over when it’s over.

Leafs need to play the same calm style of game and keep them to the outside. They also need to clean up turnovers and rebounds and they should be fine.

Ottawa will be better as we go on, but the leafs style of play has showed that they win close games, and there will be some close games they’ll need to battle for the win

Im worried for Stolarz. I actually think that POS Grieg did something to him on that dive

Dudes a dirty player
I think it hurt him, but there’s a difference between being hurt and having an injury.

Hopefully just a bruise or sore leg. He finished the game and if he starts the next one then I’m sure he’s fine.

I don’t get the hate, Brady’s a beast, ignoring the fact is the sigh of stupidity or ignorance………

Neither of the Tkachuk brothers could ever be considered to be “a beast” - - they run around the ice like fools trying to get physical but neither one can handle it and they end up injuring themselves.

Like when Matt broke his sternum in the playoffs two years ago or that charade at the Four Nations - - both trying to fight and both ended up injured for weeks. Imagine if they’d fought actual tough guys instead of a couple lightweights?

Played a fantastic game and took it to Ottawa in game one and used there inexperienced against them

We need to come out strong game 2 and force the Ottawa boys to manufacture there way into the game and if they get overly physical use it against them

If our head space is right I think we win this one, we don't want one of those late to start flat disinterested games

We finally get a goalie looks like will take us far, and first game a 3rd liner tries to run him out. Not happy they were losing the game, and will go for the possible injury. The snapshot empty net says it all about this player Greig there are other Senators will play hard but fair. 100% supported Rielly for the response to the snapshot.

When the time comes, Greig will have to be dealt with via street justice. I envision some Domi upper cuts but would also not mind McCabe finding him in open ice.

Stollie looks fine.

Riellys game has definitely improved a lot since Carlo joined. Carlo has been a great pickup. Rielly still has ‘it’ but he needs to feel safe when he’s out there. When he’s doing too much he becomes a liability.

Well, let’s just say when he’s the last man in at the point and he wants to make a play, make sure that’s not going into a shin pad that turns into an odd man break the other way and he needs to make sure not to get rushed otherwise when he’s on the blueline. There’s no one to bail him out except the goalie at that point.

Going to be eating steak and watching this game at a restaurant and then bar downtown.

I want to see them come out exactly like game 1 and just hit everyone early on to tilt the Sens again.

Thought he had a really rough game 1.

Hopefully the goal helps settle him down, but it felt like every time he was on the ice, danger was inevitable.

Holmberg has been greasy and solid but if Berube reverts back to using Domi on the 3rd line, maybe you look at trying out Pacioretty on the 2nd line. Early in the season that line was great with Pacioretty.

Making a line change right now though is probably not wise.
Holmberg only goes to the second line to make it look better patches would be taking domi out not Holmberg

Ottawa's 1st goal happened because Stolarz was to casual with the puck instead of just covering it up that's one thing I want to see cleaned up the rebound control.
The puck bounced over his stick when he tried to bring it in to cover it... Not really much you can do on that.

The decline in his footspeed is sadly noticeable. Since last playoffs, I don't know if it's injuries that have piled up, being out of shape or what, but he can't quite pivot or quickly shift himself like he used to be able to do. If someone comes at him with pressure and speed he seems to get turned pretty easily and then often loses the ensuing race after.
