I think he basically said that the Senators have enough $8M forwards on the top 2 lines and it would be better to spend the $8M on 2 $4M forwards who are "hard to play against" (implying bigger stronger physical players) to improve the 3rd line.

Interesting that he also likes Kelly on the 4th line because he hustles and gives 100% (blocking shots, fore-checking physically) even though he does not have offensive skills.

Probably not a popular opinion, and not intended as a shot at Mendes, but The Athletic's Sens coverage went way downhill after Hailey Salvian moved on. Mendes is good at the big stories and Hailey was a pretty mediocre writer, but I found her reporting way more consistent. I think the job is best suited to someone who is still earning their stripes.

Why do people care who reports things on the Sens, even if they get their way & a guy gets fired these same people eventually will turn on whoever is new if they happen to say something they perceive as bad about their favourite player or disagree with their opinion? Social media is now becoming so intrusive that the public is commenting on people's work & livelyhood trying to get them fired. Imagine a bunch of people watching you in your work place commenting on everything you do & then some actively trying to get you fired. It's some kind of a dystopia absurdity isn't it? It's a wild & crazy time. :scared:

I think Ian is really good but his credibility takes a hit when he's shilling on social media for some of the hacks they have on staff at The Athletic.
