Ottawa must address their forward lines.

They must.

We could easily sink just as fast as we rose.

If we didn't have great goaltending we could easily be 1-5 and we'd be pumping the 2025 draft thread instead.

This is a serious concern. I almost barfed a little seeing Highmore get a couple shifts on top 6. He's been excellent in his stint, but to go from 3rd-4th call-up option to top 6 shifts... says something.

Big difference in the Senators defensive play from the way they were playing in November. There’s still some lapses, but overall there’s more structure and good team D.

Matinpalo isn’t flashy but plays a quiet, steady game and has filled in nicely. Could be good to keep him around as the #6.

It’s nice that Forsberg got the Win. He had a decent game.
Yes, Matinplano played well and will likely get better as he gains more NHL experience. He could be our 3RD next season or 7th D if Yak makes the jump or we pick up a decent RD via trade or UFA signing.

I don't expect to run rampant on the road against a team that was raring to go after a disappointing loss, especially since we were playing less than 24 hours before.

But that's when the PP really needs to generate some modicum of offence.

If this is how Forsberg plays when he gets a ton of rest then we have to keep him.

When Ullmark is healthy the 1-2 punch with Maerillainen is going to be unreal.

Another really good defensive game, Forsberg kept us in it in the first period but they have really finally learned to play good defensive playoff hockey. They bend but they don't break & they don't quit which is extremely important & an improvement from past yrs. They also don't get pushed around any more or overwhelmed in their own end, they have really improved from last yr with some of their new additions & subtractions. The only stat that counts is the score at the end of the game.

Gaudette struggled with controlling the puck on unit 2. I’d be tempted to have Stu play the full 2 minutes in a low PP game.

It's nice to have him back. He helps get Sanderson going too.

Imagine having our two top pairs going.

Apparently the Devils haven't had to change their top four the entire season for every single game. What a luxury that would be.
