The Ottawa Senators went on a fantastic playoff run in 2013, but the most surprising aspect of their success was that it came a season or two earlier than expected. Much of their success can be attributed to the emergence of many top prospects who made an impact in the 2012-13 NHL season.

Top 10 Prospects:

1. Mika Zibanejad, C/W
2. Jakob Silfverberg, LW/RW
3. Robin Lehner, G
4. Cory Conacher, LW/RW
5. Stefan Noesen, RW
6. Chris Driedger, G
7. Patrick Wiercioch, D
8. Cody Ceci, D
9. Matt Puempel, LW

didn't he have a monster year? , looking at his numbers, if he repeats that season next year, he will start 2014 as a starter in bingo.

He had good numbers on a good team. I like him as a prospect. I'm just surprised that he's ranked above 2 first rounders

Agreed. A "Monster season" in the WHL by a goalie on a good team would be a top-3 performance.

Driedger was good, but not "top-3 good". Still excited with Driedger, but I think he's ranked too high on our prospect list.

To be fair, Vikstrand did cool down significantly after his PPG start.

I know, I love to throw Wikstrand's name out there whenever I can cause of his epic name so that's why you might have seen me using him in posts, half the time it was sarcasm, lol. I think this is why most people misunderstand my posts and think me to be dead serious about my hype most of the time I post.

But in reality though he did have an amazing season in general especially for where he was drafted. Sweden's best D at WJC and broke OEL's goalscoring record. Unbelievable immediate impact from a previous year's 7th round pick. Then again that's why he probably didn't get covered, a 7th round pick.

I'm surprised how high Dreidger is ranked. I've seen him live twice but I'm no scout.

I have absolutely no trouble saying that he was the Ottawa Senator prospect that had the best CHL playoffs this season. Even if you take into account guys like Noesen. Dreidger carried a Hitmen team that played like crap in the postseason into a long playoff run. He was pretty much the first star in every game they won. And half the games they lost too.

Like I said, I'm no scout. I'm not down on him. I hope he pans out. I'm just not sure that he should be ranked above two 1sts (Puempel, Ceci) and two 2nds (Prince, Wiercioch).

I'm genuinely curious because I never watched Wikstrand play, but can his numbers be somewhat inflated due to playing with superstars like Bobby Ryan and Kopitar? Did this attribute to his cooldown when they all left?

I think Lehner is our #1 prospect, he carried Bingo to a Calder Cup & was named playoff MVP. Nobody else in this organization can say that. He was also great in almost every game he has played in so far in his limited NHL career playing arguably the most important position in hockey. He has future #1 goaltender written all over him & IMO he will be the guy who eventually carries Ottawa to it's first Stanley Cup Championship. He beat Boston twice this yr, just saying.

I agree, but some people like to rank goalies lower because they're the BIGGEST wild card position in hockey. Lehner looks to have proved he can play with the big boys, some like to wait a bit before jumping on a certain goalies bandwagon.

Stone, Silfverberg & Zibanejad together couldn't take Bingo past the first round this yr. What Bingo lacked was scoring & that's what those two were suppose to be able to do especially in the AHL. Silfverberg did okay leading Bingo in scoring & Lawson played fairly well. However, if Lehner was there I assume he would have carried them to the finals again, he would have been the difference because he exudes confidence to the players around him. Just my opinion.

Not really. Bobby Ryan come much later in the season when Vikstrand was already playing amazing hockey and that's when Wikstrand actually cooled down a bit. Vikstrand solidified my great opinion of him after watching him play in the WJC. He has a long way to go and his decision to stay in Mora another year shows me he knows what's best for him.
