Burakovsky and a mid round pick for David Perron.

Seattle gets rid of a longer higher cap hit contract for a pick that's most likely irrelevant.

Ottawa gets a forward with more skill and could end up revitalizing career if played with more skilled players as well.

Perron has 15 team NTC, he probably passes.

Makes zero sense for Seattle. The Burakovsky contract is not killing them and maybe they get something for him at the 2027 trade deadline. Better that then adding a pick to get a 36 year old Perron when they are still rebuilding and should only be adding picks (and/or young players).

I mean you can always turn it around, but his last two years of play indicate that Burakovsky will not return any sort of an asset.

He's either washed or needs a change of scenery.

Let's say Burakovsky is totally washed as an NHL player. They don't need the cap space from his contract so just let him ride out the next 2.5 years and become a UFA.

Thus matter how you slice it, it still makes zero sense for Seattle to trade any draft pick for anything but a player in his 20's (and certainly not a 36 year old at the end of his career when the Kraken are not only not a Cup contender, but they won't even make the playoffs). Better just hold on to Burakovsky, see if he can turn it around, and hold on to that pick.

I do agree with the cap space part.

That's the case with a lot of teams now, with the cap inflation coming. Don't need to dump your trash anymore.

But there are scenarios where you can swap trash to see if it becomes treasure. Not sure Seattle needs to do that here. Perron is not likely coming back as a major contributor to a team like Seattle. The only benefit would be his contract compared to Burakovsky's.

Yeah - I'm just not getting the OP's original offer at all. It makes ZERO sense for Seattle. If a rebuilding team doesn't need the cap space then they might as well hold on to the younger player.

Getting Perron would have them still miss the playoffs and looks like his career is basically over, so they would probably get less from him next season than Burokowsky...And they'd have to add a pick?

It's so bad that's it's like a joke.

It also ignores the fact that Perron’s child, who was born at the start of the season, underwent emergency life-saving surgery in November.

If Perron is moved, I think he would have even more say in his destination than his NTC affords him.

lo says the one coming from a worse one. Who called in the army when it snowed 😂.
I doubt you’ll find anyone in the world outside of the outpost that would consider Ottawa nicer than Toronto. Lol

Ok, that's your opinion and it is a completely fine one to hold.... you are clearly still confused though. Typical Torontonian ;)
Not confused at all, been there many times for work and good lord there isn’t a more boring city in the face of the planet. And that includes Hamilton 😂

As someone who has lived in both, I'd take Ottawa 10 times out of 10.

Also you clearly are confused because someone said Perron wouldn't waive (implying he'd want to stay in Ottawa).

For the deal itself, I'd perfer to keep Perron personally.

I'm a big fan of both clubs and I think @Bjornar Moxnes is on to something here. Not 100% sure that both clubs would be interested but it makes some sense for both.

Burakovsky has really fallen off and most of us have written him off. That's three years left of a bad contract - one way of writing him off is moving him for a shorter contract, for a guy who makes a better veteran mentor. Ottawa of course gets a younger skilled guy who has a better chance of rebounding. Though I'm not sure that there won't be an LTIR option for Perron in Ottawa?

The only benefit would be his contract compared to Burakovsky's.

From Seattle's perspective Perron would be a better mentor than Burakovsky. He's seen more and has played harder - Burakovsky is that high skill guy who never quite figured it out mentally enough to play at an elite level.

Ok, thats all well and good, I am not arguing with any of your opinions…. but you actually seem more confused than ever.

Because who the hell wants to be in Ottawa?
