Josh Norris for Scott Laughton Colorado or Edmontons 1st and a 2nd.

Seravalli reported that Sens are exploring trade options for Norris. Laughton is a good 3C while Pinto slides into the 2C spot. Ottawa also gets valuable cap space and picks to acquire a top 6 forward. Philly needs centers and Norris would be an upgrade and a top 2 C on their team. He’s also still fairly youngish.

Awful for Philadelphia.

Laughton would return a 1st + on his own, so Philly is basically sacrificing, what... two 1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd or so for Josh Norris? No chance.

In a Norris/Laughton trade, I am almost certain that the + would be coming from Ottawa. Norris has some very good qualities (he is good defensively and on faceoffs, physically-engaged, and is a good or perhaps even very good goal scorer), but he is an average playmaker/offensive creator, he has serious injury concerns, and is paid a lot for a long time.

lol no. How about you add a 1st to Norris, and remove our 1st, and we do it.

Edit: Nvm, you have to add more than that because he has a NMC after next season smh.

That's what Briere wants for him, sure, but doubtful he gets it, hence why Laughton is still there, that's been the ask since Briere was hired

You could flip that 1st to be going towards Philly and I'm still not sure it's a great deal for Philly. Norris is a decent 2C when healthy, but he can't stay healthy and has a huge contract. Even taking out the AAV, he's owed something like $45 million for the 5.25 years left on his deal.

Even if he stayed healthy, he's still not worth his contract and money he's owed. With his injuries, Ottawa would probably be happy for someone to just take the contract off their hands.

I wouldn't want my team to give up a 1st for him, but there is plenty of precedence for GMs thinking otherwise when it comes to players like Laughton.

He certainly holds more value than Frederic, imo.

More than Frederic? Maybe. maybe not. Different kinds of value, but close to = I think.

Teams that think they can offer a zillion dollars for Mcdavid in free agency, be they delusional or not, will be avoiding the Norris contract like the plague. Norris a lot harder to move than you think. Long term deal for long term deal sure. But 8 m off the books with minimal salary back? Good luck.

Why do Sens fans think other teams want Norris. We all know what he is and there’s a reason he’s in every Sens proposal. Sens are stuck with him unless they are retaining half and not expecting much.

No reason for Ottawa to dump Norris. He’s still scoring at a 30G/82GP pace, and this is a league where goals do matter.

Scott Laughton has never scored 20 in his career.

Is Norris ~2M overpaid? Yeah. But the reality of it is, Ottawa has no standout offensive prospects in the pipeline, and if they trade Norris, they’d have to figure out a way to replace his goal production. We’re already one of the lowest scoring teams in the league.

Guess what we’d have to do to get a guy to come to Ottawa who can score? Overpay! So might as well keep the overpaid guy we got.

He’s also still a very good defensive center who, to the surprise of many I’m sure, is one of our most physical forwards.

Flyers can add another pick and D prospect
