Why do you think you struck a nerve? I'm not sure why, but you didn't.

I do not know much about you, but I know you aren't a youth and I am. As such it is likely that I know more youth well enough to know what movies they have seen or haven't than you do.

I know that most of my friends that I grew up with have seen Ghostbusters, as well as most of my friends that were not born here. I know that most of my friends where I went to university saw Ghostbusters. And most of my friends where I currently go to school have seen Ghostbusters.

Of course, I could say "But Please, you know nothing about me so please stop acting like you know more about any age group than me or anyone else." right back to you.

 It's obvious it struck a nerve with you, but that's fine. Let me ask you this (and be honest). Do you honestly think that the % of people are 16-25 that have seen Ghostbusters is as high as the people that would have seen it when it first came out? Do you think it's even close? I guarantee you that it isn't.

It set studio records when it first came out, it was a top grossing movie and pretty much everybody saw it or knew about it back then. I do get, and acknowledge that you, and a subset of others your age saw it later on in life and that's great, but the percentage of people now pales in comparison to those that saw it when it first came out. Wouldn't you agree?

And that was the point I was making. Like I said, it's great that you and your friends saw it and treated it as a classic, but the re-releases later in life were tiny compared to the original.

So what is this? We can't get upset over the game, so we debate the relevance of Ghostbusters in today's youth?

Odd choice, but alright.

Well, we were just waiting for you to come to the thread to complain about the team leaving the goalie hung out to try. Since you didn't show up, we had to complain about something. :sarcasm:

BBA, you also have to remember that because its considered a classic, its also shown on TV all the time, especially around Halloween.

This Halloween alone I saw 3 different channels showing it at 3 different times. That's how it's stayed relevant

If we are going to be quoting Bill Murray movies, we can't go without the "Lighten up Francis" from Sargent Hulka.

Wouldn't have said that this time. Most likely I'd have *****ed about the team's inability to score more than 1 goal in 38 shots.

Again, you didn't. Not sure why you think you did.

"Do you honestly think that the % of people are 16-25 that have seen Ghostbusters is as high as the people that would have seen it when it first came out?"

No I don't nor did I say otherwise. You are asking a completely different question.

"And that was the point I was making."

No, it wasn't.

"I would venture a guess that youth that DOES know about Ghostbusters is a minority."

Ergo: [# of youth who have not seen Ghostbusters] > [# of youth who have seen Ghostbusters].

Which is what I responded to. In my experience, most youth, male and female, have seen Ghostbusters. It's a pretty common movie to watch on Halloween weekend for people my age when they aren't going out.

It is a widely considered a classic, whether you accept that or not.

Oh, I know. But you would still be hard pressed to convince me that it has as much relevance, interest and viewership (word?) as it did back when it was a box office hit. Yeah, I get that a bunch of nerds (of which I am one) on these message boards will watch it, but back then, I bet there weren't more than a handful of kids that didn't see that movie. Now, I'd be shocked if if was even 50%. I know that my kids, most of the kids I coach/coached and their buddies would look at me like an alien if I started quoting Ghostbuster lines.

Again, I'm not saying nobody today watched/watches it, just that the relative % isn't what it was. Can't see how one could even argue that.

My two favorite movies were filmed before my birth. Coincidentally both have the same hilarious line in completely different contexts.

I have to believe even the youth of today has seen ghostbusters. 99% of it probably goes straight over their heads though.

Some nights the best thing about the game is having the chance to blow off some steam. Sometimes, once in a while, all you really want is an excuse to get up on your feet and scream as loud as you can.

This was a great game for that.

I'm also happy to see our best players break through for once.

I'm going Blazing Saddles and Slap Shot.

Bill Murrays greatest movie was Stripes, can't consider Caddyshack, I don't feel his role was bigger than Chevy Chase.

Though Harold Ramis was the greatest comedy writer of all time.

Blazing Saddles, way ahead of it's time, yet so far ahead of it's time that nobody would ever dare to make a move like that today.

What About Bob is a masterpiece. It's through and through a classic Bill Murray comedic experience. It's success is also due in part to Richard Dreyfus' brilliant performance and Direction from Frank Oz.
