Too many rumours regarding Misa wanting to be traded. It led to that report of the Misa’s going to BU next year etc.

I am not 100% sure he isn’t traded regardless of whether Saginaw wants to or not. It is not lik ehe is going to walk out demanding a trade but why keep a player if he doesn’t’ want to be there (assuming he in fact wants to be traded).

As of yesterday - They are still telling GM'S both are not available and won't be with the deadline less then a month away.
I'd be surprised if that changes.

Sounds good. It is good to have that info. IF that is the message now, then I can’t see it changing. If Misa were trying to push a play to be traded, that would be out there in some manner.

Do you think the play is more geared toward the offseason? I know the rumblings were that he 100% wanted to be gone for next season. He may very well stick in the NHL but I could see a Colby Barlow scenario next year where if he is returned, he returns to a trade. That now seems more likely.

I think that is accurate but I don’t see a scenario where buyers are lowballing. We haven’t seen that so far. If we look at the rumoured NB/Barrie deal (that is waiting for January), it seems likely that Romani and Parker Vaughn would be the primary pieces. Romani missed the playoffs last year and has missed a good chunk of this season and yet it seems likely Barrie will still use their 5th overall pick to acquire that player. Even if additional players are involved, it is still a #5 going out the door.

Even London moving wha they moved for Allen is somewhat out of character for them too. Earlier deals for Leenders, Rehkopf, and Barlow are other examples.

I think it is less what teams will give and more what teams are truly buyers…and what teams have left to give! This could come down to a war of attrition. Who has bullets left int heir gun when the music stops?

I think this deadline is going to show that teams with the stockpile of assets will have more options and flexibility than those that don’t. So, when teams like Ottawa, Sudbury, and North Bay don’t need to make deals, it may not be the case when the goal should be to stockpile when possible without gutting your franchise. All of those three teams can stockpile without gutting their franchise. Hell, NB has basically been playing without Romani all season. Playing without him in the 2nd half is no different than now.

I thought the question was more like, who are the definite sellers in the east.
But yeah, if you can get Vaughn &for VanSteensel & Romani; take it. If it’s just picks for Romani, there’s probably more value holding until the next deadline at least. That team is chock full of 2006-08, and has 2-2nds in April; so, there is no rush for picks just for the sake of picks.
The wolves are a bit different. Maybe they poach some steelheads :)

I was wondering about him. Did very well in the cchl as a rookie and having a great year in Navan.I'm guessing will finish the year there, maybe get a few games to get his feet wet and we see him next year. Suspect the change in ncaa eligibility convinced him to give the O a shot.

I would say NB for a full blowup as rumored and Ottawa for a small selloff.
Sudbury i would think would have a soft sell appears to not want to admit they should be selling.

West: Owen Sound, Soo, Guelph
Saginaw should be but also doesn't seem to think they need to.

Those are the 6/7 teams i would pay the most attention to.

A few others that are doing well are Clarence Allain and an intriging kid Spencer Bowes. He's top 15 scorer in cchl with Pembroke as a rookie ( albeit 17 y.o.). The kid has been an offensive force everywhere he's played but...he's small. A friend of mine who's involved in cchl says he has crazy skill. Wonder if we'll see him with the poles at some point🤷‍♂️

If we can get Vandenberg and Krawczyk signed, this is what the roster would look like for 2026-27:

Amidovski - Whitehead - Ekberg
Yanni - Vandenberg - Kelly(OA)
Kingwell - Krawczyk - Perrier
Houben

Marrelli(OA) - Eshkawkogan
Dietsch - Brady(OA)
Bonomo

Nelson

We’d also have another Import, all the ‘09 and ‘10 draft picks to add to that lineup. We could also see a player or two added at the deadline. If Mews is dealt next season, there is the return for him as well. I slipped in the OA’s but we could see upgrades mixed in there as well.

Considering this is two seasons away, if we can get those two signings completed, we would look pretty solid.

I think the need to sell Musty doenst’ necessarily make them a seller. I think some would prefer to ship those assets back into the market with other assets and turn them into a buyer. Whether that happens or even can be facilitated is a completely different discussion entirely.

Ideally Brampton, Brantford, Flint, Sudbury, and to a certain extent Niagara and Ottawa would sell and buy. They have picks already.
There won’t be enough worthwhile players available at fair prices of course, so it would be good for Ottawa and Sudbury if Brampton and Brantford blow their brains out on rentals in an attempt to approach pre-season expectations.

I’m not sure Ottawa would buy, even if selling Pinelli.

From what I understand, the Kingwell deal is domino #1. Ottawa has a few more NCAA rumoured players, most notably Vandenberg and Krawczyk that could potentially join next year (or earlier). I don’t see why they wouldn’t. As I posted previously today, their 2026 roster looks solid if they do manage to get those guys signed. So, if Boyd has a strong sense he will snag those two then next year’s team will be bursting at the seems. Hypothetically you pull out that lineup and add Mews, Foster, Dever, and Barlas to that team plus the Import pick and whomever they draft next year and trade for this year. All of a sudden they have 13 forwards, 6 D-Men, plus the Import, 1st round pick, and any player they trade for? There may be some serious competition for spots.

It actually makes me think keeping Foster may not be as valuable next year as I first thought. It is still good to have a veteran to help anchor the lineup but if you have some mature 17 year old rookies as well as a few veteran forwards like Barlas and Dever, it may not be all that bad. Shortage of bodies isn’t likely going to be a problem.

MacKenzie, Pinelli, Ekberg, and Korbler the scratches tonight. I thought Ekberg would rejoin the team for tonight’s game. I wonder if he went home early for Christmas? Take that extra week off before rejoining for their game on the 28th.

Conway back in the saddle tonight as the backup.

Important game tonight. Tough gaem tomorrow. Rangers flying pretty high right now. Tough test. The PEtes have been playing well as of late but Ottawa needs to beat the teams below them in the standings.

By buying, for the ‘67s I meant picking up position specific ‘07 and an ‘06 to be future OA. That’s better than accumulating 10 picks to use on a player later imo.

Do you mean they trade Pinelli for picks and then flip some picks for a young player?

I am not sure they’d end up doing that if they feel they have Vandenberg and Krawczyk likely signing…or others.

I think they look fairly ok for bodies if they are only moving Pinelli. If they move Foster and Mews as well, then that would be a different story.
