Awesome win! This is what they needed for confidence. No Pinelli and no Stonehouse, and they beat the top team of them.
Milly's faith in Amidovski says a lot about the shootout. Add the fact that he scored, and his confidence has to be rising.
Good Game from MacK who showed that he has it when it is important.
These 3 OA (Stonehouse, Gerrior and Mack are not making Boyds decision any easier
Amidovski was fantastic. Had a very good shift in OT as well. Wish Cameron would use him like that, too. I've said this countless times but no matter if they wanna win this season or not...the kids have to play. Cameron has to start properly using Whitehead, Ekberg and Amidovski. There's no way around it.
If they play this way while Cameron is gone and without Pinelli and Ekberg, it will be hard for DC to put the Genie back in the bottle.100%. Mostly green rookies though. The real test is the 2nd half when the greener rookies start to play a lot more, especially on rebuilding teams.
This is a real solid chance for Milley to show his moxie. I think he replaces Cameron or finds another opportunity….SOON.

YOU commented on Mews playing his best hockey. If that is so, then he may be at his peak regarding what we can get for a return. If we can get a player and picks that are going to help us in the near future, it may be hard for Boyd to turn down. Yes, it would be nice to have him, but the other side is that his value may never be this good because he would be adding a year to the team he goes to versus next year, they get half a year or a full year only.
I am just wondering, not trying to make trouble but if a player is signed to an NHL contract and gets waived through the league, do they then go back to the NHL team to do as they please
Mews: It really comes down to market value. I think his market value right now is through the roof. Now 2nd in scoring for D-Men. Tied for 14th in scoring overall. Only 5 points behind Dickinson. Dickinson is at the WJHC so he’s going to miss 7 more games. He will for sure pass him. Can he stay ahead of Parekh and Marrelli? Can he be the leading scoring D-Man on Jan 1? The funny part about Mews is it is not like he has a lot to work with. And, he doesn’t play in a system that is very open. He has to do it honestly, not much cheating. The game looks slow for him right now. It hardly looks like he is even giving an effort, it looks so easy for him. This is “BY FAR” the best we have ever seem him play. I have not been a Mews fan. I have made no bones about that, but I have to give credit when it is deserved. He is on a run right now and he is absolutely crushing it. Pinelli may be at the WJHC right now but regardless of that, right now, Mews is the best Ottawa 67, even above Pinelli. I’m not sure how you can trade that kid now. Hypothetically speaking, how do you trade the leagues leading scoring D-Man as an 18 year old? What do you ask for? I’ve stated that I think Brantford is the most likely candidate. O’Donnell, two 2nds, and two 3rds? Is that even enough? We are in a territory that is pretty much occupied by Owen Beck as the comparable. Beck was a Team Canada player though, and a forward. I really don’t know where the market sits.
DC and Boyd have another year on their contracts. At his age, I do not see the NHL knocking on DC's door. The smart thing would be to do a last-year run like Killer did and retire, but hey, you never know.DC/Milley: I have to give DC credit. He handled Amidovski well. He is really starting to make a push. This is about the time where kids like him start to kick in and we are starting to see it. It is jsut a matter of time for him. But, I have said this before. If we are entering a rebuild starting the 2nd half of this season, why keep Cameron? Why would Cameron want to? I think we need to have the coach in place starting next season for the next 3-4 seasons. He will be 67 next year. Does Ottawa (and Cameron that matter) want Cameron to coach Junior hockey into his 70’s? Kilrea coached until he was 75 so it can be done. DC looks to be in fantastic shape. But, is he too old from an approach perspective? If he wins a WJHC Gold Medal, is that how he wants to go out or does he want to fade out with no fanfare in a few years? How does that affect Norm Milley? You have to think that Norm Milley is going to get an opportunity elsewhere soon. I am not sure how this will all play out. We have to assume if DC wants to stay coaching, he will stay coaching. If we lose Milley, we lose Milley. I cannot see Boyd canning Cameron. He has mostly done everything he’s been asked. I am concerned about some of the departures but it looks like both Mews and Amidovski have bought into the program and both look good right now doing it. What else can you ask for I guess?
Milley should have already had a head coaching opportunity with the wolves100%. Mostly green rookies though. The real test is the 2nd half when the greener rookies start to play a lot more, especially on rebuilding teams.

Yeah I was the same with Mews early this year but as I've mentioned a few times what a change the last 6 weeks. Don't know what happened but he's just been dominating. And not just offensively he's been much better defensively especially at using his elite skating to cut down space...impressive.Mews: It really comes down to market value. He is also the top non OA and top avail RD
How about 2 seconds 3 third and 2 fourth same as Minty
his value now is as high as it will ever be.

I agree though that ther ehas to be a promise made to Milley or he is out the door and they are looking for another coach
Milley should have already had a head coaching opportunity with the wolves
There was a post game interview about a month ago where he said “the team” is buying into the program here. When he said “the team,” I think he meant HIMSELF. You could see an attitude change. Complete turn around. About two weeks after that was when you started see him transition from being more competitive to being dominant. This last two weeks has been crazy, 12 points in his last 5 games. And you can see he is doing it effortlessly, like he is out there playing pond hockey. The game is coming easy to him now. You see that in the elite players when they finally get over that hump and the game slows down and they are able to anticipate the plays and that extra half to full second they have to react puts them in ideal situations early making it look effortless.Yeah I was the same with Mews early this year but as I've mentioned a few times what a change the last 6 weeks.
