Too much crap going on.

First, they are out of town on a 3 in 3. So, DC likely feels he needs to roll 4 lines. So, he decided to balance them. Second, he cannot get consistent lines because of the OA situation. So, today, we will probably see Gerrior placed beside Dever and it becomes a real 2nd line.

Thank you for making my point as to why I hate having 4 OA. That is what I have been harping about and taking heat for all year.

Gerrior should have been released when Stonehouse came back, or Stonehouse should have been traded. But they want to play the merry-go-round, LOL, so this is what we get.
In some respects, I don’t have an issue with Whitehead playing with Ekberg and Amidovski. If the line can gain some chemistry, they can play the next two seasons together. Perhaps that is what DC is trying to do? Barlas playing centre with Houben and Kelly seems like a line of misfits in some respects. It is sort of the line of left overs.

I have no issue with Amidovski Whitehead and Ekberg playing together other if tht is going to be your 2nd line and they are getting meaningful ice time.

The challenge has been that Amnidovski has spent the greater part of games 90% shining the bench.

We know Korbler will sub in for Pinelli on line one once he is traded. It is just a matter of time. He will get his goals vs Peterborough and North Bay when we play the bottom feeders. He’ll chip in a few 2nd assists. But, he will work hard I guess. Next year he will be named Captain. Hooray

It all comes down to who is being traded and who is not.

I think Kobler is maybe DC, a fair-haired boy, but Yanni could have something to say just from his point of view. I am also not so sure he will be back next year. If Boyd is really trying to make the team better, releasing Korbler is the first thing he should do. We are at worst going to have a top-20 pick in the first round, and that should get us a pretty good player. Better than Korbler. Also, of course, there are the details of what kind of contract Ekberg signed and whether he will be back.

So I have to admit that when it comes to DC and 4th line, past history has left my gun shy. I think it is better not to go by what line they are on but the TOI. That is why I asked how much ice time the players got instead of jumping on the 4th line rant

Poor goaltending, a couple of dumb penalties by vets to give the Spits a 5 on 3 put the game out of reach for a lower placed team like 67s. Not that we would of tied it up but this for sure put an end to any hope. We basically doubled them in penalty minutes and you do not want to do this against a high powered offence like the Spits have.

Any chance of competing and making this a game has to be done 5 on 5 as much as possible. Goaltending has not been great even on basic routine saves. Not a recipe to achieve success.

I think we need a full reality check. Good teams draw penalties because they consistently have a half step on the poorer teams. It forces stick fouls and holding penalties. That’s reality.

The 67s defence is not deep enough with experience and the forward group has too many green players. We aren’t strong enough down the middle either.

DC has his team ready to play game one. I’ve been saying this for a couple seasons now. When you have your team ready to play right from game one while other teams are still waiting for NHL prospects to return and for the other coaches to get their teams revved up, it makes it look like the 67s are better than they are.

The big positive in all this is the players individually still play hard and mostly keep games close so even though they are a rebuilding team, it is still relatively entertaining.

I am fine with all this. They had a weak ‘06 draft and it shows on the ice. You cannot have a weak draft like we did and expect there to be support. We have Mews, Marrelli, Brady, and Kelly from the 2022 draft. That isn’t good enough. Those guys will be our 19 year olds next year. That alone suggests next year is also a rebuild year.

The 2021 draft was much better even though Barlas wasn’t a great pick in the mid-1st round. Pinelli, Foster, Gardiner, Dever, Ewles, Horner…. Pretty good draft if Gardiner we’re still here.

Having to move Gardiner really weakened this team. No way around it. The combination of that plus our piss poor 2022 draft is killing us. So be it. You cannot have great drafts every year.

Hopefully we will benefit from the new NCAA rule and we get a player or two added unexpectedly. If not, next year is going to be an adventure!

Thank you for making my point as to why I hate having 4 OA. That is what I have been harping about and taking heat for all year.

Yanni has been great IMO. That kid has fire in his belly. Once he gets a little heavier and manages to pick his spots better, I think he will be a good player, probably in the 2nd half.

Ekberg out of the lineup today. He better be sick or injured!
And Gerrior with Barlas Kelly?

lol looks like the early season oddity of Perrier wearing 17 has caused some minor confusion on the London broadcast - they listed the first line as Perrier - Foster - Pinelli.

Ottawa dominated play so he didn't have to do a lot...but that was still one of Nelson's better periods. Made a few key saves and looked incredibly sharp overall, tracking the puck very well. Fantastic rebound control, too.

One of the things I have noticed since the start of the season for Nelson is he doesn’t’ lose his net. In his first couple weeks or so, he was sliding well outside the post, almost forcing heavy movement. He has calmed down a lot. Hs movements have been lessened. He looks a hell of a lot more calm and confident in net.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I think that Stonehouse on the topline is a problem. The topline was more solid/effective with Körbler on it and it was way more dangerous and fun to watch with Ekberg. Stonehouse is adding nothing except grit to that line is mainly just holding back Pinelli and Foster. He's too slow and not dynamic enough to keep up. Pinelli needs linemates who can keep up with him. Ideally guys who can feed him pucks, cover him, win battles and dig out pucks for him.

Stonehouse is a great middle six guy but I don't think he should be playing with Pinelli. I still think Ekberg should be centering Pinelli. That would be an incredibly dynamic duo.

Suggesting Stonehouse can’t skate is a take….that’s for sure.

Stonehouse with one of Whitehead or Dever makes more sense for sure but I would have Ekberg on that top line without even having to think about it for longer than 1.2 seconds…

That's not what I wrote. I never said he can't skate...just that it's visible he can't keep up with Pinelli and Foster. Some of it may be skating but I think it's mostly processing/vision, maybe puck skills as well. I can't really put a finger on it. Maybe I'm being unfair because he's still rusty but right now I think he's holding back that line more than actually adding anything. Foster at C is a problem as well. I get that. Still, the line was way better with both Körbler and Ekberg. I'd strongly suggest to go back to Ekberg...but with Ekberg at C.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but you'll have to admit that the topline has been garbage ever since Stonehouse joined it.

It isn’t a good fit but I thought you were suggesting that he couldn’t keep up based on skating.

Stonehouse isn’t the type of player that compliments a fast line. He is a down low type of guy that grinds out his chances. That’s why he’s better with Dever IMO. Pinelli and Foster need a player that plays at pace with puck movement. This is why Ekberg has been so good on the 1st PP unit. The three of them have good chemistry.

Ekberg out of the lineup up is a head scratcher. I didn’t notice him leave injured yesterday. I assume there is a health issu eof some kind but if he is a healthy scratch just simply sitting out his tun, I would have serious issue with it.

The most sense is for Pinelli to be moved to a team that can pare him up with better players.

Ottawa has the OHL's top PP. Talent isn't really the problem. 67's have a lot of problems but talent isn't one of them. 67's are loaded with talent. The problem is that the Coach so far hasn't been willing to really play the talented kids and put Pinelli in a position to succeed. Foster centering Pinelli is a poor idea, so is adding Stonehouse to that topline.

Well watched the last 2 games, did not see much beyond Pinelli. Backend is fine but the forward group looks a little light. Jmo of course.

Excellent game. Very even, tight checking, high quality. Great goaltending as well. Fun to watch. Dumb, lazy penalties the 67's probably would have cost them though against a fully stacked London lineup. At the same time the 67's PP was rather poor without Ekberg, too.

It's a good forward group but the lines and ice time distribution don't make sense. I'd say it's mostly a coaching problem.

One thing that forward group is clearly lacking is finish though. Which is a major problem. Ottawa dominated most games this season but the standings don't reflect that. Some of that is due to poor goaltending. Both MacKenzie and Nelson mostly haven't met expectations this season. It's mostly finish though. 67's aren't efficient enough. For example they don't have a single elite righty goal scorer among forwards. It's a good team but if they wanna win a playoff round or two they're probably gonna have to add a couple of goal scorers. Otherwise they may be better off selling.

Well you are closer to it then I am but I'm not convinced it is all on the coaching. Anyway be safe.

Fantastic goaltending battle today. If Nelson can play even close from this level on most nights then the 67's should look for a new home for Mac. Easily Nelson's best game so far.

Well Nelson looked great and they hung with London all night but we continue to take dumb penalties and can’t finish. Hopefully Ekberg is ok and returns next game. Houben disappeared today so not sure if he is hurt too…

Tough loss for Nelson. Unfortunately for him, Elliott had a very good game in his own right. Elliott usually sucks and I don't even know why he's still in the league...but today he was clearly standing on his head.

What do you base your opinion of Elliot on that he "usually sucks and I don't even know why he's still in the league"?
He had an outstanding career in the WHL before moving to London. Career totals: 58 W 14 L with a GAA under .250.
He's undefeated with the Knights, 9-0 (I believe). I've only seen him play poorly in one game, an 8-7 W in Guelph).

I thought both goalies were outstanding today.

What do you mean? Which outstanding career? I watch a lot of WHL and he has always been a poor goalie. He even dropped out of the WHL after finally getting released by the Blades. He was outplayed by 06 born Evan Gardner last season. I have no idea why the Blades even brought him back as an overager.
