It isn’t that you make off base remarks. It is the volume of them and you do not provide any balance.

I criticize DC but I also point out the positives. I highlight both sides.

For example, DC is a good systems coach. I don’t think anyone can argue that. He has his teams well prepared for games. Sure, maybe there is the odd stinker but it happens in Junior hockey. His ability to prepare his team and install a system that wins hockey games is very very good. The challenge with that is his teams start out better than others and it creates a false sense of optimism. Other teams start slower and build momentum. Not these DC 67’s teams. We saw it this weekend with OS. OS is a team we should beat handily if they are the team some on here suggest they are but we barely squeezed by with a win. Why? It is because even the weaker teams are starting to catch their stride. But, at the end of the day, his players play hockey the right way. That speaks volumes as to how good he is.

Where DC is weak? He has a tendency to overplay his veteran players. Maybe this affects the progress of younger players but the younger players that play the game right and ut forth the effort seem to get more ice than the others. Case in point, Horner, Houben and Korbler. None of these players provide the stability and results that justify their ice time but they play DC’s way and put forth significant effort every shift. So, they play. Other younger players that don’t put forth the same effort end up playing less, even if they are future elite players.

We’ve had a handful of players all not want to be in Ottawa. It points to the coach. It is what it is. It shows that he may not be the best at communicating with the players. So, from my perspective, do we want a 67 year old coach that seems to be lacking the ability to connect with players to restart this next rebuild? THAT is the question we need to ask. IMO, we shouldn’t want that regardless of how good DC is at preparing his teams.

Kilrea just turned 90. He was fine thorugh around 70-71. After that? His teams started to be a lot more inconsistent. His moves as a GM were highly questionable. I think when coaches start getting close to 70, you really need to separate their past fromt heir present and really take a strong and hard look at whether you wan tthe coach for another cycle. We ar win a position heading into next season where we will be in year one of the next cycle. It could end up being a 4 year cycle. So, the choice to keep DC isn’t about next year, it is about the next four years. Should he be here for another full cycle. That’s the question.

I tend to understand what you are saying. Also, the fact that Cameron is coaching the WJC team says something about him. But I do not see a developmental coach.

As to your idea of all players drafted unless they stand out playing in CJHL is a very good one. Consider that 3 of the rookies you talk about played CJHL or OJHL last year. They got that playing against older men. It makes a whole lot of sense. This could even include a late first round pick or one that is not seeing ice time. Whitehead would have benefitted more from playing in Navan or Smith Falls last year than sitting on the bench. The same with Amidovski. Would it not have been better? again, all we heard about at the draft was how much of a team player and hard worker he was. Maybe another year of eating mom's cooking and playing OJHL would have been better for him.

But as you mentioned, I can not get my mind around taking a high-ranked NHL draft pick this year; he was highly thought of by the scouts as a player who is leading rookie points in the league, and then putting him on the 4th line. I agree he may not be working out as a center, and that is fine. Play him on the wing. That is where he Played most of his time. BUT 4TH LINE

Sending 16 year olds down to Tier II works really well for the Knights. It worked well for Jack Quinn. Maybe that should be the route heavier travelled for the 67’s.

Let me tell you one thing right now I’ve said it before and I don’t want to say it again

Stonehouse injury gave him absolutely no pain, his nhl team told him he didn’t need to get surgery right away, why do you keep saying this stuff about playing injured players in the playoffs, he was absolutely fine in fact him Dever & Horner was our best line.


I hate to be rude but with every post you prove to every single one of us you don’t understand the game of hockey and the business side of it this day and age. Find a new team to cheer for all you do is bitc* every single day it’s absolutely exhausting to listen to daily.

If it makes you feel any better, Ottawa lost to Oshawa in a shootout (essentially a tie game in Ottawa) and all 3 stars were from Oshawa...

It doesn't. I would rather everything be as unbiased as possible... the 3 stars are an easy get.

If that's what you want to do, that's fine, just call them the "(insert home team name here) 3 stars" and be up front with it. In Kitchener the players get a small monetary value award/gift certificate (worth about $50 last I heard). I want that going to who deserves it... truth be told, and I'm dead serious, I wonder if the NCAA ruling/eligibility will affect this going forward and the legality of the Rangers continuing it.

McCue should have been a star over Pinelli without a doubt in my mind.

Mews with 2+2 and Stonehouse with the game winner and was a massive distraction for OS drawing at least two penalties. I get those two. But, Pinelli was half useless yesterday. He just backed into two points.

FWIW Windsor lost yesterday in the Soo and Windsor's goalie was named 1st star. So it does work the way it should in some cities.

Want to talk about Mews a bit and not just because of the last game as he's been much better the last 3 weeks or so. I was a bit harsh on him as I didn't like his effort/ body language. However to his credit he seems to have turned a corner. He's been much better and not just offensively. Nice to see because he's a very talented kid. I know about all the rumours/reports of him wanting a change which may be true or not ( as we are not in the inner circle). But by playing this way he's certainly doing himself and the 67's a favor if he ends up on the move.

People on this thread won't be surprised by what I'll say next because he's my favorite player. Scratching Gerrior 3 games in a row! I feel awful for the kid as he gives 100% every game. The only other comparable on this team is Pinelli in that respect. I know we've got an OA issue and Nelson being sick likely cost him Sunday's game but just an awful way to treat him imo. Yes Mac had to be there and difficult to sit Mayich with our D but they should have sat Stoney sunday in fairness. This OA thing is unfair to all 4 and needs to be settled asap.

THE OHL site has it as Stonehouse with the 3rd star.

And I'm not sure how the various choices work, but I know there are 3 selected by the media at the game, and they sometimes don't jive with the OHL shown choices. Don't know why
