pxp guys should be telling the story of the game not spending the whole time crying about officiating.
It was one of the worst broadcasts I have ever listened to.

Looking forward to seeing Ottawa in Kingston Wednesday!
Haven’t really seen them at all yet this season.

Some quick thoughts after yesterday's game:

- I thought Gerrior had a really good game. I know Stonehouse is back soon, and we'll have 4 OAs at that point and Boyd will need to deal with that situation (considering market conditions), but if I were Boyd I'd really look to hang on to Gerrior for the remainder of the season. Great motor, terrific shot, and really seems like he's the heart and soul of this team. Liked him alongside Dever and Horner.
- Ekberg is highly skilled and once he adjusts to the OHL he'll be the second-best forward on this team after #20. Would have liked to have seen him get more ice time yesterday.
- If I were a contender (which the 67s are surely not), I'd take a long look at Mayich at the deadline. OA spots are tight for many teams, but I can't imagine Mayich not being an upgrade for some of them. Would be a very solid top-4 d-man on a championship team imo.
- Wasn't really impressed by Barlas or Kelly, but they're capable 3rd liners I guess
- Whitehead is really all over the place, which is mostly good...he has a tendency to force plays and turn the puck over relatively often, and got absolutely nailed behind his own net which seems to happen a lot to him...part of the learning process I guess, but imo there's more good than bad there and at least he's pushing the play up the ice and looking to be creative. DC rewarded him with lots of ice in the 3rd period which is good to see.
- The D was pretty solid overall. Brady is an OK 3rd pairing guy. Dietsch has size and potential. Thought Mews and Marrelli were solid yesterday.
- MacKenzie misplayed the 3rd Kingston goal pretty badly and seemed to misplay the OT winner too (though I didn't see the replay). Not sure if he loses focus, but he was strong for the vast majority of the game.

Honestly, the worst part of the broadcast is always listening to Kenny Walls crying about the officiating. To listen to him you would think that every player around the league is using sharpened sticks to remove the spleens of our kids, with the officials standing over them shouting encouragement. It gets old really fast. Dean and Gord are bad for it sometimes also, but Kenny Walls takes it to a new level. I get it - home town radio guys put a home town spin on the game - but for God's sake dial it back a bit...

With NCAA commits already jumping ship from the USHL to CHL teams, I thought it would be good to take a look at the potential 67’s draft picks that would be candidates for signing in Ottawa:

2008 - C Thomas Vandenberg (Cedar Rapids - USHL) commit to Providence College 2027-28
2008 - D Abe Barnett (USNTDP) no Commitment
2008 - RW Jaxon Williams (Carolina jr Hurricanes) no Commitment
2008 - RW Lucas Zajic (USNTDP) Commit to U of Wisconsin 2026-27

2007 - C Cole McKinney (USNTDP) Commit to U of Michigan 2025-26
2007 - D Asher Barnett (USNTDP) Commit to U of Michigan 2025-26
2007 - D Ryan White (Surrey Eagles - BCHL) Commit to Providence College 2025-26

2006 - LW John McNelis (Sioux Falls - USHL) Commit to Boston U 2025-26

I doubt the USNTDP kids would jump ship to the OHL. Also, there are a lot of players set to start their NCAA term in 2026-27. I think Vandenberg is the only true possibility. Jaxon Williams is also a possibility but I am not sure what his status is. He is pretty small and still playing AAA in Carolina. Worth watching but I am not sold at this point.

So, really, the watch is on for Vandenberg. He’s an Ottawa kid. He does have the 2027-28 commit to Providence but if he delays that a year, he can play out his OHL eligibility. He was a top prospect for this past draft. I think a fair number of scouts had him in the 1st round. I am not too sure he woudl sign for this year after the holiday break but it is always a possibility. I think next year is more likely if it happens.

ASAP can in fact be the deadline but if a team gives you a deadline offer before the deadline then I think they need to do it.

You have a point and I can see that. It will be interesting to see what happens with the Oa'S

I still think if you can get someone to make a good deal for Foster, then you have to look at it. Pinelli may be the goal-scorer, but who knows what a team may want? Putting themon on the market is not the same as trading. Let's see what interest is there so Boyd has a better idea of what he is doing.
I think you will see Pinelli, Dever, Mews moved before the deadline, & starting to seem like stonehouse

Pinelli will likely get an 08 1st + 2X 2nd 1X3 1X4
One of the most pure goal scoring wingers in the OHL, probably the best goal scorer in the ohl that’s going to be available.

Mews will likely also get around the same return
Really good offensive D that can likely play on 80% of the leagues top pp unit. He might get a bigger return simply because he will be back next year.

Dever I think gets us a 3rd
I call him Mr reliable he plays every important situation and has always been a + player in his career would be a great 3rd line shut down C on any team, I’ve always said he’s just like Cam Tolnai.

Stonehouse return is likely a 4th &5th
my guess is he plays until the deadline though

Trading Dever sets us up for Foster, Barlas, Horner as our OA’s to start next season

Something to keep an eye on The Mississauga Chargers where Conway plays went out and acquired a goalie today, not sure if there is any meaning to this but could mean one of two things, Mackenzie on his way out Conway coming up? Or DC & Boyd are going to roll 4 OA’s meaning Conway needs to permanently be with Ottawa

I don’t think there will be nearly enough ‘08s available that ensures Ottawa even gets one of them. I like Pinelli but I am not sure he will be the top forward available. It will depend on players like Romani, Musty, Luchanko, and Lardis. Clearly Musty is out there but we don’t know about the others. Hopefully, for Ottawa, there is a lack of elite scorers out there at the deadline. If the only elite scorers are Musty and Pinelli, both teams should make out very well.

I think Mews is more valuable than Pinelli because he is a two year player.

I am skeptical of Dever getting moved. Anything can happen and it’s possible that he may request a move but barring him requesting a move, I can’t see Boyd moving him for something like a 3rd round pick.

I also cannot see Stonehouse moves for a 4th and 5th. If that is all he is worth then the contenders aren’t interested. If the contenders aren’t interested then Boyd would simply be moving him for the sake of moving him. I’m not sure that makes much sense. Why go to a team like SSM for example? I think it may be more likely they move MacKenzie out.

Dever loves it in Ottawa.
Anything west of Toronto and I guarantee he doesn’t report if he is traded.
Can’t see him being moved.

FWIW, Oster said in an interview the other day that Pinelli had ask Marrelli/Oster at CBJ camp to get their GM (Hunt) to get him in Oshawa. I don't see him being a guy the Gens go after, but still an interesting story as OSH/OTT seemed to not like each other much, but then you find out the captain of one is talking to the best D-man and goalie of the other trying to team up
