67's only dressed 18 for this first game, 10 forwards, 6 defence and 2 goalies, including in the 18, 67's dressed 6 rookies,. Kingston dressed 20 players and according to the OHL game sheet they did'nt dress any rookies/

Russian import, Vsevolod Gaidamak, will not be able to report to the team due to several declined Visa applications.

The 2003-born forward from Khabarovsk, Russia was traded from the Ottawa 67s to Niagara in June.

The Niagara IceDogs will continue to retain his rights.

Interestingly, it looks like Pinelli lined up at Centre for the Barberpoles in the Pre-Season opener. I’m not sure how well he played but if he shifts to Centre, that could stretch out the lineup a bit.

The second Interesting note is the 67’s only dressed 10 forwards. It is not uncommon to sit out the veterans in the first preseason game. Boucher, Beck, Rohrer and Tolnai all sat out game one. but the surprising deletion was Steven Laforme. You’d think he would get a shot early because he looks to be one of the odd men out. His absence would suggest he is no tin the cards at all. We shall see tomorrow against Sudbury if he appears in the lineup.

The four eldest D-Men also all sat out.

Looks like MacKenzie started out where he left off last season playing well in the preseason.

Front fan here. MacKenzie really didn't have to make any difficult saves. The 67's dominated the game, Kingston had zero sustained pressure in the 67's zone. The one 67 that I thought played hard and was physical was Mayich

I think you are right about Laforme. Were any players cut or have they prettiwell given up on the 48 hour rule

The players that played arfe the ones that have either made the team or are possibilities.

Also I am sure that players like Ewle are going to be given every chance to show why they should stay or why someone should look for them.

Well Pinelli was a center in minor midget I believe and as you say it would spread out the lineup. Who knows might be our future # 1 center? On the other hand might just be that Tolnai/Rohrer were sitting
As for Laforme I thought the same thing but he also missed the last scrimmage so can't rule out an injury either. However it doesn't look good as we pundits do see him as a bubble boy. Especially if a guy like Dever pops in camp it will make it difficult to make the team.

Thanks for the info Zaluty! By the way just curious is Wright at the Kingston camp? Anyway your comments on Mayich do match what Kenny Walls on TSN 1200 was saying. Apparently he's been a beast at camp with much increased physicality. However he's apparently also showing a much more offensive side. Walls went as far as saying he could be a second rounder in the NHL draft this year. We were speculating on this board who could be that guy that makes a big jump...maybe he's the guy?

Two other guys that Walls seemed impressed with are Gardiner who's apparently filled in quite a bit and Smyth who has actually slimmed down and his speed is much improved as a result. If true and combined with his size could become quite a shutdown guy. Things are looking up.

I liked Gardiner last year and said he was just too slight to make an impact. I was really hoping he added a little beef. Sounds like he did.

I know it is early but by the sounds of things, the players that needed to transform physically mostly have. Unfortunately, it is still crickets surrounding Barlas. Still crossing my fingers there.

Yeah now that you mention it, I've heard zilch on Barlas. We'll see.

Did Barlas see much ice time against the fronts.

As to Wright it will be interesting to see what he is doing, I can understand not playing any games BUT he has to keep some civility in Kingston he really doe snot want to burn the bridge. The funny thing is that while Seattle might scream blue murder there is nothing stopping the Fronts from benching him if he is a pain and then trading him to a rebuilding team.

Anyone remember Grant Marshall. drafted in the first round by the Laffs pissed off Killer in a practice then instead of playing on a high power line with Peca and Bowen ended up in Newmarket traded for Meloche and Dykeman

OMG and sirius I got a little nostalgic.

The line that I would have iked to have seen on the ice for a few games. I am only using players that I saw play

LW the big swede Freddie (here let me help you up0 ODUYA Yes he is listed as a D but Killer liked him as a forward especially against the Petes

Center Big Mike Gamble

RW Lance Galbraith

Okay maybe Gamble was not a penalty machine but it was interesting watching a kid that played just because he was given a chance. Players that i saw MIKE PECA

The player that I did not see that would fit would be Konopka at center

I’m pretty sure Wright is only in Kingston Camp for the workouts. He’s heading to Seattle and he will stay there. He’s gonna sink or swim.

I didn't see the game but as Ottawa dressed 10 forwards I suspect he got his icetime
