Makes sense for Ottawa, they're trying to compete and the 9th overall will be a minimum 3-4 years from being any sort of impact if they even come close Eklund value wise.

Using that pick and trading up for Viggo Bjorck would've made more sense imo. He's ready to play right now and has more upside than Eklund. Also plays premium position.

Its not awful but feels a bit desperate.

SJ is in a nice spot. Chicago & Vancouver dreaming of Stenberg likely over now. I just hope we still take Malhotra.

I was thinking that it shows how draft picks and prospects have diminishing returns. Svoboda is going to be a good NHL PK'er. Idk enough about Halttunen.

FWIW I like the deal. I was on the fence (leaning no) for 9ov alone, but getting Halttunen makes it better.
