Gambrell cleared waivers October 10th and was sent to the AHL Barracuda after he lost his job to Jasper Weatherby and Lane Peterson.

The injuries to White, Pinto, Watson and Bishop in Ottawa was too much to overcome on the injury front, the Sens don’t really have any other forwards that are NHL ready, Parker Kelly got an opportunity but did not impress and was sent back down.

Yeah don’t expect much from Gambrell. He never did jack here

Gambrell might get a lot of playing time since the Sens center depth has been hit hard by injury.

Im still banded from the Ottawa board, it’s been 3 years since I’ve talked to Ottawa.

Come to the Sharks board, we will welcome you with arms wide open. We even have Karlsson, Balcers, former Ottawa 76 Logan Couture among other Ottawa alumni.

That press release is worded terribly.

Good grief.

The Ottawa Senators announced today that the team has acquired forward Dylan Gambrell from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for the Sharks' original 2022 seventh-round draft pick that the Senators had acquired on Jan. 27, 2021, in exchange for defenceman Christian Jaros.”

Didn't Dorion say he was willing to trade futures for a player who could help them now? He just didn't say it was going to be one of his team's draft picks.

I actually like this pickup. I think Gambrell could be a good reclaimation project for DJ. Could quite easily turn into a good bottom 6 defensive specialist for us.
Or he could just totally bust. And it only cost us a 7th for a warm body to get us through injuries.

This is a win-win

Tierney lite and worse than Logan Shaw you say... yuck. We needed center help for a couple of weeks so i see why Dorion felt the need to get some instant help.. but still that description of him makes me uneasy lol.

He's not worse than Logan Shaw lol. Don't believe everything you read.

Tierney-lite would be fantastic but I'm not expecting that much.

When we are healthy, he will be a 12th/13th/14th fwd

Frustrating to watch. Has trouble winning board battles. He gained some strength last offseason but still had trouble using it effectively. Haven’t seen even glimpses of offensive prowess. I wanted him to do well. He tries earnestly, it just isn’t there thus far.

There’s been very small glimpses of passing ability but Torrey Mitchell had more offensive potential than Gambrell does at this point.

Gambrell improved massively last season, to the level of an acceptable 13th forward. He can probably start as the third wheel on a deep team's fourth line, and if he again improves massively this season, he might even be an acceptable 4C.

Realistically, he's a waiver wire tweener bouncing between bad teams or serving as designated press box guy on a decent team with a poor prospect pool.

Gambrell can play acceptable defense for a 4th liner and kill penalties but he’s terrible at face offs and provides nothing offensively on the regular. I don’t get the comparisons to Tierney. Tierney is literally better at every facet of the game.

no no no you got this all wrong! every member of the pro scouting staff should know where Gambrell (and everyone for that matter) played in the USHL and College. as those are 2 of the top development leagues in the world...

its the part where he played for the Colorado Thunderbirds U16 team for 2 years and his peewee teams before that that Pierre knows about that scares us.

(don't lump me in with him I just looked him up on EP.)
