So they gonna flip him to an Ottawa division rival like Hoffman? With Ottawa taking a worse trade return and then still having him in division?

San Jose is contender now
Are they though? Maybe best team in the Pacific, but that's not a roster that shouts "Cup favorite" to me. I'd still have them comfortably behind Winnipeg or Nashville, and that's without knowing what's coming back to Ottawa.

WOW.

Wonder what the return would be. Braun going back? Hertl? 2019 2nd? 2020 1st? Prospects/young players?

What assets do the Sharks have that they could do this? They are a good team but not a lot of good "future" assets. Unless they are literally giving the Sens the farm.

Let me say this in big letters for everyone:

Sens fans KNOW we won' get a return for this. We know we will get fleeced. Trading Karlsson right before training camp REEKS of Dorion (read: Melnyk) caving to an offer they previously thought was bad because "we need to get this done now".

But they don't "need to get it done now" they would have a far better return at the deadline if they wait it out.

Again: we expect a horrible return. No need to rub it in our faces and claim "LOL SENS FANS THOUGHT THEY'D GET THE WORLD FOR HIM!"

We don't. We are going to get fleeced. Badly.

Yeah, it sucks. Just like our Pronger situation where our owner told our GM to trade him immediately to cut salary before selling the team.
