Rasmussen ain't nearly the player but he also doesn't have nearly the contract.

... Not to mention that Josh Norris is one of the few players in the league even more fragile than Ras lol.

Nevermind that I don't remember very many Red Wings fans seriously suggesting Rasmussen or Copp as the main piece back. Moreso futures, and BUF fans losing their minds over not wanting futures.

There were plenty of both.

Yeah WJC performances says a lot about someone's ceiling. All the guys with big WJC performances all had super high ceilings. Like Cody Hodgson, Casey Mittlestadt, Trevor Zegras, Jesse Puljujarvi, Samuel Fagemo, Ryan Poehling and Joel Armia!
I 100% agree.

Guys like Tim Stutzle, Connor Bédard, Thomas Chabot, Kirill Kaprizov, Zach Werenski, Filip Forsberg and Rasmus Dahlin are garbage.

The one thing I've noticed about Norris so far is his defensive IQ. Always seems to be in the right position in the defensive zone. I don't think he's as good defensively as McLeod or Greenway, but he's not far off.

I do not think that Norris and Tage have made a real good combination (yet?), and Norris seems to be deferring to Tage a bit too much offensively. If Quinn wasn't playing like absolute ass, I'd say that he and Norris might make for a good duo.
Norris is solid defensively, good on faceoffs, a good shot and a threat on the powerplay if he gets a chance to shoot

Besides his health, his playmaking especially 5 on 5 needs work. If he improves on that it would be a solid return for Buffalo. In the mean time for lines you should pair him with one or both of your best playmaking wingers

Cozens sounds like a player who's been poorly coached, affecting his development.
Yes. This is a huge problem in Buffalo. I think Cozens can be extremely successful with good coaching and the correct usage and line mates. I'd love to see some of our other players with better coaching -- particularly on D. I'm sure Power and Samuelsson would look much stronger in their own zone with good coaching. It's a shame.

I have the hot sauce for the egg on Kevyn Adams face.

Such an unforced error .. no need to make a move like this at deadline.

I made this comment in the Sabres forum, and I'll echo it here.

The play DC made to get the puck was one he'd make in Buffalo. The issue would come after he got possession of the puck. If he shot the puck, there were 3 outcomes:
1.) Into the goalies' crest
2.) Up and over the crossbar/corner, hopefully staying in the rink
3.) Off the oncoming defender's stick.
And all this assumes he wouldn't look for a pass.

Hey, if he's re-found his scoring touch in Ottawa -- this is exactly what you can expect.

Cozens has been tremendous for us. He's been the best player on that 2nd line without a doubt.

Sanderson has been lights out for us recently. Doing it all.
I was very skeptical of the pick initially (as many others were) but Sanderson's been insane the last 2 seasons (not that his rookie season was a slouch either)

Great gamble on that pick especially with how crazy the 2020 draft is turning out so far.

Him and Stu possibly for 1/2 in a redraft. Not a massive fan of the pick at the time but I don’t think it was a gamble. He was rated around that spot. McKenzie had him at eight.

Buffalo is desperate for centers like this. I'm really intrigued by Norris. Pretty happy with the trade thus far as I'm sure Ottawa fans are with Cozens. Top-6Cs are not easy to come by, and Cozens was a great trade chip to use for such a player w/ some risk attached. No way he returns a top-6C with zero risk to them. His value wasn't nearly high enough for that type of return. But for me, I'm always going to lean toward a defensively responsible top-6C over a top-6W who can't handle the grind of the center position.

Let's hope Norris stays healthy. He's exactly what Buffalo needs in a 2C. The big issue is Ottawa seems to be figuring it out while Buffalo hasn't shown any ability to figure it out. Norris may turn into a nice piece for Buffalo, but if he's stuck in the wasteland that is Buffalo, then who really cares? If Ottawa turns it around, and Cozens is a good top-6W for them going forward, then all the glory to them.

I am convinced Buffalo solely exists to develop talent for other teams in the league
They're a terribly run organization. What do you expect? Lol.

Fans were pounding the table to switch Cozens to wing because he can't handle the defensive responsibility of center, especially given his linemates. It's only been three games, though, and Norris looks the part of a top-6 C, which may hold more value depending on what Cozens peak is. Most would prefer a top-6 C to a top-6 W, but if Cozens can level up to a top-line player? Well then, good job Ottawa. I don't see it, but then again- Buffalo diminishes the potential of their young players over and over again, so who really knows.

I’m still confused as to why a 2nd was attached to Cozens going to Ottawa.. I would have assumed the 2nd would have been attached to Norris due to his injury history and the fear with that. Plus also ive always found Cozens to be the better player and he’s 2 years younger.

Just a weird trade for buffalo… but honestly, it doesnt surprise me at all

Cozens is fitting in real well, he slotted right into Norris’s old spot, second line centre. 3 games, 2 goals and 1 assist, + 2, and has played physical. Probably end up being a good hockey trade for both sides.
