It's a good deal, he is a unique player, one of a few power fwds left in the game. Brings far more than just goals and assists. This locks him up in Ottawa for pretty much his prime years. Had to be done. Only negative is it was not for 8 years IMO.

Funny, Everyone and their dog knew Ottawa offered 8x8 and Brady wanted 8x8.4+.

We ended up at 8.2, LOL. I guess everyone compromised.

Before everyone goes nuts on the AAV, let me say I don't care. We are a smaller NHL market and have to overpay sometimes and more importantly we are at the bottom of the league in terms of payroll so we can afford it. Is Brady worth 8.2M AAV? definitely not at this point in time (to me he is a 6.5M player) but in a couple of years with the cap going up this would have been even more expensive.

The saga is finally over.
