Murray getting hurt means this had to happen.

The contract is a bit rich and we've been burned the last few times we did this but we had no choice.

Not great, not terrible.

Not really though .... Murray will be back in a month and they could've opted to keep Forsberg until year end and re-assess in the summer.

I don't think the Murray injury is as much an issue as Gustavsson's horrible play this season.

Tough situation for the team.... two goalies making a lot of money combined. One always injured and unsteady, the other has been steady but for a short(ish) period of time. I like that they decided to keep Forsberg and talked about it before but this AAV is high.

Will be interesting to see how it unfolds next year. I'm hoping they buyout or figure out a way to trade Murray at this point.

I still think Forsberg is capable of being a legit starter, good deal for him. He would have been a good fit for Edmonton.

I predict the Sens trade Murray in the summer. They should, otherwise they have 10M tied up in two goalies.

Forsberg has been fantastic but at the same time way too much money on goaltending right now. Also why 3 years?? 2 years max Dorion. Someone needs to pull Dorion out of the trade room.

Well the player has a say in term since it is a negotiation. If he plays well for the remainder of the season, some GM could very well offer him 4 yrs at $3M AAV. Chris Driedger got $3.5M over 3 with a similar career path.

Andrew Hammond/Mike Condon 3.0

This time next year, we'll be looking for a way to get out of this contract.

I think the Sens had to do this. Being the Sens, they have to pay more than a good organization would. And they are desperate for long term goaltending given that every time Murray gets on a roll he gets injured, and Gustavsson has regressed after his 1st good year as a pro. And like 8 prospects that could all end up nowhere.

Having Forsberg walk and become a good goalie somewhere else would be worse than blowing money on another Condon.

Looking at his numbers, he does have a bit of a Craig Anderson career path to him. More likely to be Condon. Or somewhere in between.
