Arte went from the "greatest owner ever" when he initially lowered beer prices in to the 21st century Marge Schott

Arte is yet another example that running a sports team is a unique business model and that it all starts at the top
He got all the praises because he was constantly getting compared to Frank McCourt by the media. Who knew years later that he’d be just as bad as McCourt was? But even then, the Dodgers never had a string of losing seasons under McCourt.

Indeed

McCourt wasn't a great owner by any means but the media went full attack on him and DePodesta.
Meanwhile Arte can change the name, threaten to move, and be historically inept and get a fraction of the vitriol from the media

41,560 fools watched the Angels get smoked in their final game of the year, [loss 98 btw] cementing the worst season in history. Arte still made 2 mil in concession sales and ad rev. o_O

I am curious to see how this plays out

Does Arte:
-blow up the front office?
- sell the team?
Or go full Iraqi Information Minister and insist they are winning it all next season?

Arte has an extremely rare rich person toy -- a US professional sports team. It's also a cash cow. The Angels ownership gives him additional privileges, access, etc. that even some other rich people don't have. This and his rich person ego will prevent him from selling.

Angel fans are stuck will him until he dies...or he becomes too old/senile to operate the team and his family forces him to sell to split up that money amongst each other.

Or until he pulls some sketchy deal for a new stadium that gets him indicted.

I hate the Chargers.

It's always the same. Have some pieces but can't put it together.

When he said he changed his mind because of "unfinished business" it meant he needed to squeeze another 500 mil out of the fans. He never had any intention to sell, that much is clear.

Ohtani is a god. He's even got me watching baseball and I could normally give a shit.
Same here. The roid era kinda ruined it for me. And didn't watch baseball for years. Then in 2018 Shohei changed all that. Rooting hard for him to win a ring. Dodgers starting pitching though. Ouch.

Galaxy back to winning ways (on verge of clinching conference title) and highest average attendance they've had since their inaugural season in 1996 back at the Rose Bowl.

That guy who posts here with the Riqui Puig avatar had had a good year. Riqui with 3 goals and 3 assists in last 3 games.

There was a supporters boycott from the start of the 2023 season that eventually (2/3 into the year) led to the sacking of the longtime president (and Anshutz poster boy) Chris Klein and technical director Jovan Kirovski (after telling the boycotting fans that would never ever happen as a result of their pressure).

To go from that low point and finishing worst in the conference last year with fans abandoning them to where they are today is really impressive.

I think USC has been really good this year. Should have won at Michigan.

I missed this past weekend though. Maybe it was a game they looked terrible.
