OT: Other Sports: Broncos, Nuggets, Rockies etc…Part VII

Defense held Bills at 13 points for 42 minutes with being something like over 30 minutes on the field. D showed up today even though they havent created turnovers.
Look at the time of possession. Just because they didn’t give up big plays doesnt mean they were good. Buffalo punted like once this game?

The Broncos need a DT to help stop the run. An interior offensive lineman to help run the ball. They need 2 WRs who can consistently catch the ball. And they need a better safety.
The TE, Safety and RB are the biggest needs IMO. We have good guards, but our Center leaves much to be desired. A WR would be nice, but if we just had some TE help, I don't think it would look nearly as bad. Just got to get rid of the guys with the dropsys.... Other than Sutton.

I think most of our running woes just comes from bad reads by RBs themselves. McLaughlin is probably having his worst game of the season, because the pressure got to him. He's running straight into the line. Earlier in the season he was more patient and was actually looking for the block and holes. A smarter back regardless of their speed would work much better here.

Did they throw one deep route after the Franklin TD?
Nope. They never really got the chance. The RBs were terrible, and the drive killing drops just kept the ball out of our hands.

This loss isn't on the Defense, but I feel like too many people are letting them off the hook. They kept the score low, but never got the Bills off the field. Letting them win the time of possession battle by not stopping the run absolutely kept the offense cold.

This was a team loss and highlighted some players that really need to be cut.

90mil in dead cap. Sure we gotta lot of roster work to do, but we're way ahead of where any reasonable person thought we would be
I agree. Wild card game was not even feasible at the start of the season.

It just burns because it felt like the plays were there, but the drops and defensive miscues shot them in the foot. But I guess that's just how it is with young teams.

So who learned most from this game?
Unfortunately, probably the Ravens. I'd much rather Buffalo win next week.

68-37 were the offensive plays today in favour of Buffalo.

Defense wasn't its usual great self BUT holy lord was the offense an abomination after the TD. They literally did nothing but put our D back on the field after like 2 mins of rest.

Okay. That’s fine. The Broncos looked every bit like a team that barely squeaked into the postseason.

So long as they build on this and use added resources to address the obvious weaknesses, I’m more than fine with this result after a near-decade of gross incompetence.

The kLutz DOINKER going into the half really took the wind out of their sails. Drop city.

we are now locked into #19 pick in the draft.

I badly want Tyler Warren but I think the colts might take him at 14. If we miss out on Warren id like to see them take the S Carolina safety or move down to the second and pick up some draft choices.

I’ll admit I haven’t watched Loveland play a lot (I hate Michigan) but I’d be totally cool with Helm from Texas at TE too. Warren just seems like the next coming of Kelce and can block / play multiple positions. The kid is like 6’6 265 - built almost like an extra lineman.

They need a 2nd reliable pass catcher. It doesn’t need to be a TE. They can’t have Nix buying time for big plays with his legs only to have it die with dropped passes. TEs don’t even block anymore.

Not keeping Simmons was a mistake. But it also demonstrates they weren’t expecting Bo to turn into what he has so soon and they weren’t expecting to make the playoffs. So, yes, they need a S better than what they had today. Does that need to be their 1st pick? That depends on what’s available in the draft or FA.

Interior line play in the running game on both sides of the ball should be an obvious need after today.

It doesn't have to be a TE, but I do think that would be better than another WR. A lot of defenses often overlook TE's, even when they're someone like Gronk. That's why I think that kind of safety valve, for Bo, would be best. Miners is the best RG in the NFL, there's no upgrade there. Powers is also a good guard. The only way to really upgrade the interior Oline blocking is a better Center and better lead blockers. Some just use another lineman as an FB on short yard plays, but that kind of telegraphs what you're doing. I wouldn't mind a better FB, but that's not a huge need, and those are pretty cheap in FA or even walk on undrafted players. I would love a new Center, though.

Well disappointing end to the Broncos season, but they weren't going to beat Buffalo. Buffalo is the far superior team.

At end of the day they accomplished a ton and got way further than expected. Now it's up to management to get some offensive pieces to help out Nix. It was on full display today how minimal offensive talent they have. They have to go get a true #1 WR and and a reliable pass catching TE and probably a decent RB.
