Even if he got the shoulder that's a defenseless player and IIRC the NFL has been calling that penalty for a few years now. They want that hit out of the game. Jones even knew it immediately that was a bad hit.
 
That's such a hard play for a defender. If you don't go for the big hit and he catches it, you get chastised by the coach, if you do , you get a flag. You can call into question him leading with his helmet, but he's trying to get there as fast as possible.

I hate those suicide balls.
 
We had a perfectly good safety and we decided it would be better to take on more dead cap to let this POS Locke take over. Absolutely the worst off-season decision.

Locke doesn't really play the same position as Simmons for one and I mean come on, how many defenders on a receiver that long are going to make a play?

They literally both play FS. And did you watch the replay? Locke slowed down and let him go by. He gave up because he thought the pressure was getting there.
