Best thing about the trade is that maybe Bulls will lose a couple more games without Zach and their pick can get into the top 5.

It's a blah deal, no doubt but the Bulls needed to be rid of Zach's contract. You do realize how difficult it was to trade Lavine? Be glad the Bulls got something for him.

Why not? I don't mind.

He has played 30 games in the last three seasons????

It's just such a typical Reinsdorf organization move. I'm just sick of these teams.
It's not completely unlike what the Blackhawks were doing when giving short term overpaid contracts to a couple of players because of their potential leadership value. The second year on the L Ball deal is a team option; maybe if he plays well next year he has some trade value. Like the Blackhawks, cap space isn't an issue for Bulls.

Moncada signed with the Angels for 1 year/$5 million

Would love Bregman on a short deal but he apparently wants six or seven years.

It’s a holding pattern only. Until they truly tear it down
AK is a goof. Here's a couple quotes from his presser (taken from twitter).

[Bulls are in a] “transitional phase and there’s more to be done” but (AK) also believes Bulls can still make playoff run.
"There's different structures that you can try to get to a championship. There's 2-3 star players and then a lot of role players or you can build it as 9-10 very good players." AK says their building toward the latter model.

So sounds like he's happy drafting in the 8-12 range every year and getting very good players. Guess he doesn't want the burden of star players????????
