Herbstreit and the other announcer (can't remember his name often, but he calls a lot of SEC games on ESPN/ABC) are beyond awful with their pro-SEC stance. Borderline ruins games at times it is so eyeroll inducing.

As far as the other stuff... couldn't care less. I don't watch anything on ESPN other than an actual game. Pre and post-game coverage on any channel these days is unwatchable for me, and I don't care what these pundits have to say on their daytime shows or whatever. Never been a sports radio guy either.

8 playoff games now complete and only 1 good game out of them. Sheesh.

Why? They've been anti-SEC for well over a decade.

Now we get a Final Four of State Penn, Godawful Rudy, Shorthorns, and the safety school of Ohio. Pretty bland end to a very mediocre year of "college" football.

Wait, you think ESPN has been anti-SEC?!?!?!

Outside of the TX/ASU game, the 7 other playoff games have sucked.

I actually disagree with this. I know the final scores weren’t that close in the Penn State and Notre Dame games, but I still found them both to be enjoyable games. There were things that happened late in those games that could have completely flipped the outcome. The Ohio State game was the only one that was truly over in the 4th quarter.

College football is definitely not dying, at least from the perspective of people actually watching the games being played.

Any idea what the actual ratings say for 2024 viewership vs say 2023? I did a quick google but couldn't find anything, but admittedly didn't look at that hard either.

I can’t find a full year analysis, but everything I had seen seems to show it’s on par with last year at least, which I believe was a really strong year for the sport. I know viewership for Gameday was record-breaking, which doesn’t necessarily mean the actually football games were too.. but it’s not a bad sign either.

Yeah Herbstreit has been beyond awful - might as well have SEC branded onto his forehead. The other announcers are almost as bad. McDonough sounded almost funeral at the end of the game.

Besides being from Chicago, is he really number-retiring worthy?

Only two (almost 3) full seasons in 8 years with the Bulls. Averaged 19 pts per game. The Bulls as a team with him only won four playoff series during that whole time. No titles/conference titles.

He's got an MVP and a ROY which are nice - he's definitely one of the best post-dynasty Bulls, but number retiring worthy? I dunno. Seems like more the state of the franchise needing something to celebrate.

I think it's a joke.

I think the Bulls saw the Hawks opening things up to guys like Chelios & Roenick and decided to do the same.
