Well a friend who does VP of scouting somewhere said that Cam Smith is really raw and has crazy potential so maybe I should shut up.

99th percentile exit velos and can play above average third and is a great athlete. Just needs swing tweaks to lift ball.

Hagen Smith is the best pitching prospect from this draft and its not even close. This guy should not have been there past first overall.

White Sox fans should be hyped. This guy will be in Chicago next year. A notch below Skenes in terms of talent ( a small notch at that).

As for Cam Smith, a better fielding Morel.

"2) Reds: Chase Burns, RHP, Wake Forest
The Reds were looking at many options and it may have come down to Charlie Condon vs. Chase Burns. In the end, they went for one of the best arms in the entire class, giving them their second straight Wake Forest pitcher taken in the first round (Rhett Lowder in 2023). Burns transferred to Wake Forest and its pitching lab and it had a tremendous effect as he took a step forward with all of his stuff. He has a fastball that touches 100 mph, but it’s his easily plus slider that misses a ridiculous number of bats". https://www.mlb.com/news/2024-mlb-draft-day-1-complete-coverage

Nope. It's Chase Burns who went 2nd.

Sox having the worst record at the All Star Break since.... *checks notes* .... ever is a pretty dumbfounding stat.

How the heck are the Sox so bad that you have to go back to prior to 1933 for a team having a worst first half of a season?

They have the most losses, because there are now more games before the break than ever.

The '79 A's had a worse record, 25-69 for .266, SOX are 27-71 for .276.

Yeah, this iteration of the Sox is fundamentally broken and the rebuild clearly failed. If they have anything of value that could fetch them potential pieces for 3+ years from now, they should do it.

At least Sox are starting to clear some of the crap off roster

Nice to see a kid getting look and playing time now

I would rather see more kids even if they are longshots to have ML careers or limited upside on roster rather than crap vets who are beyond washed
