To follow up the Simpson pick a month later and trade for the best edge rusher in the NFL seems strange? If you are pushing your chips in, why draft a QB you hope to sit for 2 years while Stafford plays?

It's called Chess (not checkers).

Getting Simpson was step 1. It allows them to now free up the 2027 1st to trade and other draft assets as well. Without Simpson, they need those draft assets to not only draft a QB in the draft next year (or year after) but also move up high enough to get someone good (can't sit at #32 waiting for your QB to sit on your lap).

It also gives you extra cap space to take on the $30M+ of Myles contract AND help sign your pending FAs. Having a QB1 make $5M/year is a HUGE advantage in a cap league instead of $50-70M/year.

Now whether Simpson becomes a top QB1 or not is unknown. Same with whomever is the #1 OA pick next year (Manning or others). But McVay likes and wants him as the future QB1 -- that's good enough for me.

Man I still can't get over the Rojas jack

Yet I found it hard to just enjoy the will smith one at the time because the bottom of the inning was still ripe for heartbreak

in retrospect man what a couple of clutch beauties, we were spoiled by a Kings 2014 run in that TO series, especially with how much magic was going for that Jays team, what, 3 guys hitting .400? Playing way over their heads and never will again. Every year baseball seems to have 1 team doin ghtat and the dodgers are often a victim...last years dodgers were good enough that even that magic couldnt stop them
