I'm thrilled to be wrong!

Despite Dave's best efforts, we pulled out the win.

The Kershaw timing was weird, but Roberts getting played with the pinch hitter by yanking May for Gonzales was disgusting. We're lucky that worked out because Gonzales is good. Just utter and complete incompetence...but what's worse about it is a numbskull like me could make the easy decisions, Roberts makes all these overly-big-brain decisions and makes things worse every single time.

That is when I turned off the game. I am a jinx. The last Series title I was actually rooting for McGuire because he was local.

When Gibby hit that we were ordering at this burger joint and it was on as a small TV in the back. "See. I told you the Dodgers were going to win" I learned a lesson that day - stay loyal.

Yea i agree. Like you said Gonzales is a good player. In the world series you go with your good players. If you lose it is what it is. Going with baez and jansen is the craziest because they havent been your good players all year. Probably havent been good for more than a year to be honest. He has a weird attachment to those two.

Hard to believe the Los Angeles Dodgers have not won a world series in 32 years.
Indeed

But looking back before this group , the ownership since the O'Malleys was awful.

During the Fox tenure, they broke up the Karros, Piazza, Rauuuuul Mondesi team, spent money on the worst possible free agents, they lost trade after trade. "The Sherriff "Kevin Malone tried to fight opposing fans.
Then on to McBankrupt

I was joking a friend that if someone had told me in 1996 after Gretz was traded for future Hall of Famer Craig Johnson, that the Kings would win two cups before the Dodgers won another championship that I would have drug tested them.

Those early-mid 90s was a dark period for Dodgers and Lakers fans, as their post-championship runs had a lot of disappointment. On top of the players you mentioned, the Dodgers had 5 consecutive Rookie of the Year award winners, but besides that, they were a pretty dreadful squad for a long stretch. Only two post season appearances in 15 years after winning the World Series in '88, and they went through so many managers after LaSorda retired (which was quite a few years overdue).

I honestly gave up on MLB altogether until the late 2000s. I gave up playing baseball/soccer for hockey in full and I started paying a little less attention anyway but every time I looked up my teams sucked and the league itself was having issues, I just couldn't stomach anything but local live ballgames for the longest time. It's nice to have the spark again a bit, but it's also that familiar Kings feeling of Lucy pulling the football!

I loved to mid to late 90's Dodgers core. The coaches following Tommy all sucked but they were fun to watch. Especially hearing Ross Porter say "Rauw-uuhhh-ell Mawn-duh-seeee"

When they canceled the World Series in 1994 after playing almost an entire season I stopped watching baseball for around 20 years.

The cancellation of the World Series is another reason I enjoy seeing Bettman stick it to Donald Fehr every time the NHL collective bargaining agreement is re-negotiated.

Alright, if COVID-19 is done by 2022, and both the Chargers and Rams are coming off playoff appearances in 2021, their first ever meeting at SoFi Stadium should be on Sunday Night Football, and LA (and Inglewood) can plan a whole day of festivities around the game.

Furthermore, the usual SNF opening theme should be replaced by a cover of Randy Newman's "I Love LA", still performed by Carrie Underwood. Just for this game.

Can't see why Roberts would not use Treinen as the closer in every game he is able to go for the rest of the World Series.
