Once I saw McCarthy on the mound the first thing I thought to myself was, "Oh, shit! Anyone but McCarthy!" I was hoping that he was no longer on this team, let alone on the World Series roster.

Well, losing the Verlander game was expected, frankly, but they didn't lose to Verlander. They lost to the Astros bullpen which should not have happened. And the Dodgers bullpen blew it. This doesn't bode well going to Houston.

It's always easy to look back and blame Roberts, and some of the blame does go to him. However, and imo rightfully so, he was trying to win it in 9 innings. To his defense, the bullpen has been lights out, and no way could anyone guess that the stros number 7 hitter would take Jansen deep.

The dodgers are still in good shape. Darvish and wood are way way better than the 2 guys the astros will be throwing out, and the astros pen stunk just as much as the dodgers pen did. They'll rebound and win games 3 and 4 I'm sure of it.

^ that's certainly one positive I took away from this game. The Dodgers kept coming back and lost a close one. 3 games in Houston is a little scary, but hopefully Darvish and Wood can go 6 innings each.

You can also blame thw Dodger offense. Yes, they scored 6 runs but they had chances to end it with a walk-off especially in the 10th when they had the winner on 2B.

He hasn't been bad, either. He's just been pitching like a number 3.

Eh, in the post season he's been pitching like a number 1, better than kershaw in the previous series imo. Need a huge outing from him tomorrow. I'd consider too skipping wood in the rotation using kershaw in game 4 so he could be ready in game 7 if it goes that far. It also sets up Darvish for game 6. It would still be 4 days rest which isn't bad considering pitch counts have not been high.

Kershaw on short rest never ends well in the post season.

I'd have to go look but I believe it was on 3 day rest. The extra day does make a difference. It's just something to ponder, maybe see how game 3 turns out. Wood pitching down 2 to 1 in the series or kershaw on 4 days rest?

The Astros have enabled easy mode. Darvish is being very charitable, everyone getting hits off of him, and now he’s getting yanked.

I expect the Astros to sweep the series at home.

While it's not over yet, the Dodger went from being 6 outs away from being up 2-0 in the series to possibly being down 2-1 series the way this game is going.
