OT: Other Buffalo Sports (Bandits, Beauts, Bisons, NCAA Basketball and Football)

To be clear, the MLS isn't going to be involved in this. The "top" league a team can get promoted to would be a supposed top division league ran by the USL (USL Division One) competing with MLS.

In reality it likely would be the 2nd tier league in the US with the other two USL leagues being tier 3 and 4, with the MLS remaining the clear top league (and continuing on without promotion/relegation). MLS teams are already in the most attractive markets with established media contracts.
Absolutely.

But, this news is an interesting twist and may see the USL run where the NASL 2.0 walked.

It certainly will test all the NA soccer fans that feel like Pro-Rel will make huge inroads to increasing the interest in NA pro mens soccer. I have been skeptical about Pro-Rel being that impactful in the past. So, it will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.

Personally, I would love to see the three level USL pyramid thrive due to Pro-Rel. Especially since it will mess with the soccer oligarchs involved with the MLS-Soccer United Marketing-US Soccer axis of power.

Late season schedule has not been kind with the back-to-backs. Hell of a performance by the Albany goaltender tonight. He stood on his head all night.

I wasn't sure where to throw this one. But, that quote is hilarious.

The background for people that aren't into lacrosse, Philly has the 1st overall pick and everyone expects Cornell's CJ Kirst will be the pick.

And California just traded for the 3rd overall pick while owning the 2nd overall pick as their natural pick. So, the California GM was asked about trading up and he said he'd call.

I hope Tierney actually told Joe Spallina that.

California's new GM is also the father of one of the top prospects for the 2026 Draft in Syracuse's Joey Spallina.

This talk about knowing some guys with burners that crap on Joey regularly was awesome.

The jokes about Joe tanking the season to take Joey 1OV next year was funny, too.

UB women’s basketball team winning the WNIT last night was fantastic—some alumni bought up tickets to give to students to make sure Alumni Arena sold out and it was rocking the whole night. Also impressive because it felt like it had all the hallmarks of an annoying loss:
-Strong defensive start tempered by a fear of “we should have a bigger lead.” UB opened the game with a 6-0 lead but it easily could’ve been 9 or 11-0 if they’d hit a couple of open jumpers.
-Other team catches fire from 3 and starts hitting contested jumpers deep in the shot clock to build a lead.
-UB struggles from the line while the other team is constantly going 2/2 on free throws.

Troy got out to a 12-15 point lead in the second quarter, but they couldn’t grow it past that. UB started chipping away, but they were constantly down by 3-8 points in the second half. They eventually got 3s to start falling, locked in for stops. They took their first lead after the opening of the game with about 3 minutes left with a 3 to make it 83-81 and the arena went nuts. Closed it out with a couple of steals and free throws

Other than giving me a chance to get something from the other room, no. For some stupid reason I stayed home tonight even though most of the city is out to watch this together.

I didn't go out in this but I did watch the game. My older spawn was in this crowdd - his apartment is two blocks up from the green light at the top of the image.

Those aren’t palm trees. That’s Steenhuis’ hair.
Speaking of Steenhuis, does anyone know what ever became of him? He just kind of disappeared from the team. I don't remember him announcing his retirement, or any kind of send-off from the team. They never retired his number or honored him in any way, and he never shows up when they bring alumni back. He got left out of the 2021 class for the NLL Hall of Fame too, and they haven't inducted anyone else since the. Did I miss something?
