You can tell the guys are getting frustrated.

And Colorado is certainly getting all the calls. It was clear Priolo’s was unintentional.

Well, last year I attended game 3 and they lost. This year I’ll be out of town and probably won’t be able to watch it…maybe it’ll go better this time around?

And idk what it is with them against Colorado outside of game 1 of the finals. IIRC they got blown out by them in the regular season, too

Why does Colorado routinely have our number?
IMO Ward gets in their heads to a degree and they feel like they need the perfect play/shot to score. Game 1 they were just letting stuff rip for most of the night

It wasn’t a blow out but yeah we lost to them in the regular season at home.

Edit. Just checked it was 13-8 so yeah offense struggled. It was 8-7 at the end of 3 tho so just blew the 4th.

That game was frustrating. It reminded me of how Colorado played them last year. Hopefully they can figure out how to get things done for the next game.

Their D keeps our shooters to the outside and rarely lets them get quality looks. When they do Ward is there to stop them. They're super frustrating to play against. Colorado's D has been a bad matchup for the Bandits O for years and it doesn't look any better this year.

Hope they can get Byrne back for next week.

Mammoth fan who comes in peace, but the reason we have your number is you either don't have the ability or the willingness to attack Ward the correct way. Ward comes out to the top of his crease aggressively and uses his massive size to cut down angles, make poke checks, recover loose balls, etc. The way to beat that is to send action across his face and make him move laterally. So the entire Mammoth defense is constructed to keep people and the ball from moving east and west, especially close to the goal. If I'm Buffalo I'm running high pick and rolls and trying to set up quick-stick passes across Ward's face. If you give him the ability to play big and see the shots coming he's going to stop 90% of them in a set offense; most of the goals he has given up this playoff have been transition or special teams goals.

And y'all gotta stop taking dumb penalties. There's no excuse for multiple too many men penalties in a Finals game; there's no excuse for cross checks to the back of a grounded opponent 2 feet away from a ref.

Please CC: this to John Tavares. He needs to see this.

It's easier said than done. The Mammoth accept off the top that they're the inferior squad as far as runners; that was the case against all their playoff opponents the last two years. Especially with the offensive injuries last year to Lee and McLaughlin (their top 2 scorers) and the defensive injuries this year to Cupido and Sullivan (their top transition defender and 2nd best stay at home defender after captain Hope). The entire team is constructed to bet on Dillon Ward and play their game around his style. For the Mammoth to win they have to play incredibly disciplined; they can't turn the ball over or take too many penalties, they can't miss rotations on defense, they can't be lazy getting their units on and off the floor. They don't generally have the offensive pop to win high scoring games so they have to grind out possessions by going into the corners and taking hits to get loose balls, stay on their check game, keep the pressure up all the time. Everybody on the Mammoth buys completely into their role even if that role is just setting screen after screen and getting blown up over and over and over again. If one guy goes into business for himself they'll lose. If Ward is just a little bit off his game, they'll lose. And they need at least 2 of their big 4 on offense (McLaughlin, Lee, Robinson, Williams) to have a big game every night or they'll lose. They don't really have another guy that you can pencil in for 3 or 4 points. That's why they had a 10-8 regular season record last year and a 9-9 regular season record this year and all their playoff series have gone the maximum of 3 games: the margin for error for the Mammoth is tiny. If everything goes right they're incredibly hard to beat, but if one thing goes wrong they usually get housed. Especially on the road. But they've come to play in big games, going 7-0 the last two years in elimination games.

Any word on Byrne’s status for Saturday? Listened to the BSC podcast and they said rumor was a concussion? If so just hope he’s alright but man he’s the guy they really need to make their offense hum.

The assumptions I have seen have been LBI after he got rolled up on and limped off against Toronto.
