Niagara Falls placing character above wins in '21
NIAGARA FALLS — Don Bass thinks Niagara Falls High School can put a solid product on the gridiron this year, but he is not focused on the standings or scoreboard.
Meanwhile, Kusmierski felt too many players were placing misguided blame during the first three weeks. He said this team is built to avoid similar problems when the Wolverines open the season against McKinley at 7 p.m. Sept. 3.
“We weren’t on the same page,” Kusmierski said. “Everybody was saying, ‘We need to do this or we need to do that.’ We just need to come together and work like we did at the end of the season.”
As much as Bass would like to win, however, his main focus will not be on the standings at the end of the season. Instead, his desire is to ensure his players become productive after they are no longer under his supervision and he will consider the season successful if he can develop quality people.
“I want to develop these young men into just that — young men. Men that you’re not afraid when you see them in the streets five years down the road,” Bass said. “... When they interviewed me, I told them on game day I would try as hard as anyone to win, but my success is determined by how I see these young men and what they do with their lives. I think there’s so much more to this than beating up a team.”

It sounds like the Sabres or the pre-McDermott Bills.

The Bandits are going to be really interesting to watch this season.

When are they NOT interesting? :)

GM Steve Dietrich is dead serious when he says he wants to bring a championship to Buffalo. Yes, Brandon Beane gets all the ink(and deservedly so), but Chugger is just as effective in making deals to improve the team.

NLL Season Preview: An Ironman in Net, Improved O and More Sparks Confidence in Banditland

X Factor: Tehoka

All the potential offensive improvements mentioned above didn't even take into consideration the third overall pick in the draft, the sublimely talented Tehoka (pronounced day-ho-ga) Nanticoke. With Smith, Buchanan and Chase Fraser also on the right side, there won't be much pressure for Nanticoke to play a large role immediately. He will surely, however, provide flashes of jaw-dropping skill. Nanticoke is adept at using his big body to bull his way to the net and he has the silky mitts to make the most of his chances when he gets there. He won't have to contribute a lot for Buffalo's offence to be successful, but his presence makes them even more scary.

I am excited that the NLL is on ESPN+.

Depending on COVID, I may have Nate bring his hockey+lacrosse teammates over to watch a Knighthawks game some time.

And that Mac O low to high goal last night for SD….

They seemed to work out the audio issues as the game went on. I hope they have them on demand like the hockey.

Great night for the Bandits - Vinc stellar in net, Dhane Smith with a 9 point night, Nanticoke debuts with a hattrick and Fields returns home with a four goals and an assist.

Root for a winner, get aboard.

Vinc put on a clinic in the first quarter and the Bandits string together a run late to beat the Knighthawks down in Rochester.
