Added for dramatic effect, it's so people unfamiliar with those teams or maybe even hockey in general know that those guys are amazing!

That and it will pretty much stop anyone's attempt at arguing with Ailurophile, since only a man with great hockey knowledge would be a fan of those players.

you were more like a squirrel. Popping up and looking around a bit, sniff this, sniff that... scratch this, hop over there, stand there awhile. Now you're more like a groundhog. Popping up once in a while and disappearing before showing up randomly at the next location only to stay for a few moments.

(Admittedly, I am not familiar with the habits and idiosyncrasies of a groundhog so I am improvising with my description based on their capacities to dig holes and remain underground where they are unseen.)
