Dream Theater songs can turn into such douchey "oh look how well we play instruments" songs sometimes but I still love em
Petrucci and Myung are damned geniuses
AgreedI think the addition of Jordan Rudess on keyboards changed the pace of their songs.
With Kevin Moore on keyboard for Images and Words and Awake, they never had those "look at how big our instrumental balls are" moments.
I think Lil Wayne is the greatest guitar player that ever lived ainec.

What is it about them that you don't like?
I enjoy DT. I haven't listened to metal consistently in like 5 years, but DT is always good times.
Rudess and Portnoy are so good at their instruments (though I think Portnoy isn't in Dream Theater anymore?) that I can deal with the pretentious technical ****ery when my mind is being shattered.
Though Moore's Space-Dye Vest is by far my favorite song.
Fav bass solo ever, Matt Freeman
Agree about the pretentious (mostly Rudess and Portnoy's faults) disagree with the bad songwriting. Naturally, every good band is bound to have stinkersRespect for the guys in Dream Theater's ability... but their music is the definition of pretentious and, despite that, the songwriting is pretty bad.
Glad I caught DT during Prog Nation 09 while Portnoy was still with them
Also got to see Zappa Plays Zappa who were just fantastic
If I wasn't boycotting concerts and was as into metal as I was 6 months ago I'd like to catch them with Mangini who I definitely feel is a better drummer than Portnoysaw DT with Iron Maiden few yrs ago, pretty sure Portnoy was still in too.
