Boy has he been damn impressive this season, what a shame we couldn't keep him but we cant keep 'em all.....
took a little longer than expected but those Brian Rafalski comparisons are starting to look pretty accurate..

Losing a guy like him because we had to much talent is a luxury

I am glad he went to the Isle.

Had to clear waivers, and didn't? Was that it? Btw, how can the Andreoff thing be anything other to avoid waivers?

Hickey has played well for the Isles since day 1. It would be hard to say with two cups how things should have been done differently. It's all part of the Nhlpa wanting the waiver process.

The Kings had to choose between Muzzin or Hickey, both were waiver eligible. The Kings brass picked Muzzin.

Anybody know/remember who Lombardi would've drafted if Hickey wasn't on the board?

Karl Alzner most likely would have been the pick. Lombardi was pretty determine to stock the Defensive cup board with prospects, early and often.

I would still make that decision even today. Hickey had some injury trouble and took longer to develop. Both good players, but both things equal I think the Kings prefer the size advantage there.

Going by the credo of best player available, Jakub Voracek should've been selected at 4. Always was compared to a young Jagr. Though not a superstar at that level, he's still come together as one of the top wingers in the NHL.

But things worked out just fine for everyone since Hickey wasn't getting a shot in LA and he earned his opportunity with the Islanders.

Moot point now, but I don't think Lombardi/Futa would select a Winger that high.

I just don't see that.

The king's brass or Drew doughty picked muzzin haha
happy for him and the islanders. I would hate it if were a different team that got him

Always hated to see him go and always backed him when people on here were calling him a bust. I'm not saying he was worth the 4th overall pick, but he's certainly not looking like a bust either. On pace for 33 points this year and his playing time is going up each year.

Be interesting to think where he'd be and if he'd still be in the Kings system if not for that knee injury all the way back in junior that set him back a lot and cost him almost all of a season.

It happens, but I too am glad to see him having success on a team that's on the rise. Good for Hickey and it looks like the wavier rules worked out for at least one player.

It was just a week or so ago I was thinking...damn, I wish we had Hickey in the system...a great replacement for Amart when he goes to FA. LOL.

Would that we could have kept them both. Nontheless it worked out for everybody, and I'll be rooting for him and the Isles.

I was always a big Hickey supporter. I just had a feeling he would one day be special and remember getting flamed for saying he will win a Norris before Doughty on a east coast team lol. Still possible guys !

Nonetheless LETS GO HICKEY !

He's 6th in average ice time among dmen on the Isles. I'd settle down with the Norris talk, because it still sounds ridiculous.

Well that escalated quickly.

I'm a huge Hickey supporter and even I would say a Norris is a pipe dream. An all-star game appearance is likely not even in his cards.

i wish he would have played a couple of regular season nhl games before he went. I am happy he went somewhere with fans i respect I hope all our prospect ends up as well as he made out.
