it's not "stock"I'm a fan of Green Bay's common stock approach.
I like their ownership structure, but it ain't stock

True. It’s not only dumb, also incredibly arrogant.
They can call it whatever they wantCommon stock is the term used to describe the shares.
They can call it whatever they want
It’s essentially a souvenir:
“It costs $250 a share, pays no dividends, benefits from no earnings, isn't tradeable and has no securities-law protection”
Wonder what they do with all the money they generate as an NFL team.Yes and I actually like that it is not real stock. A couple of other things to keep in mind (not necessarily for you, but for everyone reading):
- It is still a huge success for the city and there are many fans eager to pay the $250,
- There are other conceivable ways of doing this, including those that would allow fans to vote on particular measures related to the way the team is run,
That is, if we're willing to think radically about the future of sports as a democratic endeavor.

The raiders would be huge in LA bigger then the rams the rams feared the raiders going there if the chargers declinedThat's because even with moving to Las Vegas they will still be the most popular team in the biggest US State of California. Loser Raiders (Last SB win 1983) are far more popular than the Rams,Chargers or 49ers. That's where the owner Mark Davis arrogance comes from
I think this is a great idea for sports teams as it would prevent a rogue owner from just pulling up stakes and moving to another location or attempting to pit city against city in trying to attract a team. This way the fans have a say in the matter. Good for Green Bay.
Bundesliga (German soccer league) requires all teams to be atleast 51% owned by fans. This helps give the city and fans more control off the team.
where Tom?Couldn't you just tough it out in Oakland while the court case settles out?
where Tom?
the reason Oakland has no plan for 2019 is there's no lease for Coliseum, that's why, no lease at stadium either team suspends ops as you see in hockey circles, the team itself lands in Vegas after '19I'm asking why things have to change because a lawsuit is going on.
Why not just stay where they are. Wasn't that the plan before it started?

The Coliseum Authority meets Friday, there's still a chance the Raiders stay in Oakland for 2019....There is no lease for next season. The team can move somewhere else for a year. There is nothing the courts can do about it.

NFL teams are no longer allowed to be publicly owned. The packers were grandfathered in.

The same reason most people stay in their same situation for as long at they do. Moving sucks. Why should the raiders stay in oakland... After them being sued over the city screwing up over the whole bond thing.
you, tommy, as well as the Seattle regulars know well why a franchise left that market..... ALAMEDA County, which is what the Coliseum complex is based from as that what ORACLE Arena was originally called, (Golden State's soon to be vacated arena), was originally simply known as Oakland Coliseum as there have been some classic games in what is now ORACLE, which the Athletics have 1st rights over that arena piece....Why should the raiders stay in oakland... After them being sued over the city screwing up over the whole bond thing.

tommy:And the Raiders area already approved to move to Vegas for 2020 season. There is no lease for next season.
tommy:
Seattle lost the Sonics a decade ago, how well did the Schultz legal suit against Clay Bennett go, did it prevent the inevitable relocation to OKC, nope..... same thing Alameda County is trying to prove here by prolonging something they should've done years ago, even when the Raiders bolted to LA
