OT: CF Montréal: Potato Edition

Neither Clark, UwUsu or Duke are finishers. Can't have that much waste up front at the same time when you're trying to win games.

Otherwise, best pressing I've seen since Nancy. And it only took 1 week of Jaunadel.

Prince really needs to bury those easy chances or Vrioni will take his spot the moment he's back. Which kinda sucks, since Prince is the one with a fresh new 2+ years contract :help:

Overall the game was what it was. There were definite positive signs. We were able to generate shots and chances. The higher press was successful in stopping the Fire before getting into our 3rd. Transitionally moving forward was good but they did score their goal off of a transition where there was a bad read by Waterman, Lotiuri and Piette.

Clarke has a really rough game but I don't think it's entirely his fault. Petrasso up until the goal was pretty useless as well and don't think they had any chemistry which hurt. I do also question why Clarke, who's a natural right foot, was on the left side, while Sealy, who's a natural left foot, was on the right side. I do think that hurt them as well.

The field was also pretty trash last night which could explain why Owusu missed his shot and also Sealy had potentially another opportunity where the ball bounced off his legs and he lost it.

Guboglo had a very good game, but we have to be very careful with him right now. He's already starting to show some signs of physical breakdown, which is entirely expected given he's only 17, never played against players who were so much fast, stronger, etc, nor has he played this much at this level in such a short amount of time. He's going to need a break so we don't run him into the ground.

Overall I think the back 4 was successful. I'm assuming once Saliba comes back, he'll take Loturi's spot, who still has a ton of develop to do before he can be considered a regular MLS level player.

Personally, I would go with a 4-1-3-2 but the 4-2-3-1 also works.

I would like to see Sealy actually play on the left side behind a guy like Pearce in a Davies type role. I think he has the pace and stamina to pull it off and can create more play combinations coming in from deeper and be dangerous that way.

We call that an inverted winger. Creates more opportunities for wingers & fullbacks when they overlap. You also gotta realize that this tactical change gave Sealy a nice goal as the ball came right on his best foot from Petrasso. Garde also tried that many years ago.

I like what Donadel is bringing already, games are watchable because frankly I didn't watch a game this year.

As for Owusu, he's quality, his first touch before the goal was majestic and I don't think anyone upfront has his quality on the ball. Without his touch, there's no goal. I also believe his miss was because of the bad field conditions. He's that type of striker who can create something out of nothing but streaky.

Defensively Campbell-Waterman is a very solid pair, probably the best CB pairing at distribution in the whole league but Waterman can't be caught ball-watching. It's their first game playing at 4, so it'll take some adjustment.

Loturi is in a new league, he doesn't look quality but neither does Potato. Not National Team quality but a decent destroyer, which is what you need in this system. He'll be fine.

Saliba should run for the hills, this system won't suit him IMO. He can turn into Krolicki 2.0.

Bro, remember when Kevin Gilmore kept saying that they needed to get out of the habs shadow and make their place in the market?

LMAO.
