What can they do now? They are going into the 2025 draft with a 1st round pick and 4th round pick. Then 7th round pick. May as well draft a defected player and call it a day. Bulk up in the ‘09 group. I think this all points to Senneke and Danford being moved next year. I don’t think there is any doubt now. It will be a barren ‘07 group. They will need to fill in the 2026 and 2027 draft class. If they trade those 2028 picks then they will need to fill in three draft classes with two players. Maybe picks only deals? I doubt it.

That's the cycle of junior hockey some years..go big then sell the following year. Not sure why this is a suprise to some people.. very small window to win so then you go for it...

Doing it to this extreme is tough though. It is definitely not a cycle you bounce back from.

Does Oshawa give you Griffin and and cupboard for Pinelli as some tweets say? Do we want to or is there better available? Fasten your seat belts.
Not often does a team have the reigning goalie of the year, Ritchie (top 3-5 F), Sennecke 3rd OVR pick + top 5-7 F, Barlow (one of the best scorers of the last decade), Danford (1st RD NHL pick, top 15D), Gibson (top 5D) all at once + a pretty strong supporting cast in Marelli, Buckley, D'Amato, Sinivuori, Torrance.

Especially coming off making it to the finals. Its early no doubt, but I don't think most Gens fans would say Smith & Griffin project to be superstar/top of the league talents.

I'd want them to go all-in if I was a Gens fan. The opportunity is too great.

Not sure if Pinelli would be my top choice, but im not really sure who's all left that would warrant Griffin. Musty? Luchanko if he's even available? maybe a package like Clattenburg+Mania or Smith+McCue?

The team is already a legit threat to win, but another big add really boosts their chances when they inevitably play Barrie in the conference finals while London awaits in the finals again.

I really want Oshawa to get another top 6 Forward. Preferably a Center and if they can upgrade D'Amato on Defence for another OA, they'd be set.

Is Pinelli that guy? Maybe, maybe not. I guess it depends know the ask. I don't think he should cost as much as Gibson imo

I find it a little funny this thread is the only new one to get the big Behave message in the opening... I wonder why.... 😅

But he'll definitely cost more than Willis so say goodbye to all your picks... Right?

Don’t worry Dylan Roobroeck coming back like the undertaker to save Oshawa 😅

I really don’t think you need to worry about Pinelli. If Griffin wasn’t waiving to go to SSM with all the pressure of this last week and all the scuttlebutt, why would he make a quick decision to waive to go to Ottawa?

I think Oshawa is mostly done. The 2nd and 3rd is in 2028. I don’t think you will get anything impactful with those picks. You can get some decent depth maybe. But don’t expect anything in the top half of the lineup.

I unno, Pinelli's name has bounced around so much. Maybe his NTC involves a very shot list on where he will go

Unrelated to this, but there’s no way Tyler Challenger is a bust at this point in time, not even close imo. He was playing on the first line at the U17’s for Canada and won the gold medal, he’s going to take off once he earns more opportunity in Erie. There’s a ton of lanes they can take here though, and with Rogowski outplaying Smith and looking like the true first round pick, it makes it easier to make the deal.

I hope you are right but it doesn’t sound like that right now.

Rogowski cannot be traded if that is what you are getting at. If not, it is more about ceiling when looking at 16 year olds.

If the gens are able to acquire Pinelli, their offence is the best in the east imo.

Griffin/D’Amato for Pinelli/Mayich, or Stonehouse?

He’s a great player, why doesn’t it? Tons of guys have struggled a bit at 16 and then with more opportunity have blossomed. I’d take him over Smith, who I’ve watched every game this season in oshawa. He’s been okay, nothing overly impressive though. I don’t see an elite, productive OHL’er there until maybe his 19 year old season, while not being a great 2 way guy. Decent, but not great.

Never in a million years would I want Stonehouse on the Gens lol but I'd take a Pinelli/Mayich for a Griffin/D'Amato any day.

67’s are not bringing back D’Amato. They have four OA’s. Won’t happen unless they have a deal in hand for one of their other OAs which isn’t looking likely.

Mayich isn’t all that far behind K.Smith in value. Big kid that plays a rough game, solid defence and can move th epuck and generate offence.

That’s fair, I’m just spitballing. I really like D’Amato as well, wouldn’t be mad at all if he remains a gen. But I also think with Gibson here now, a left shot D would be ideal, and upgrading the size there could be beneficial. But he’s a good OA and isn’t someone they must upgrade on imo. Danford and Gibson alone are going to be out there 45-50 minutes a game now, eating pucks and playing physical. Mayich is a good player though, I agree. He’s more gifted offensively than Smith imo.

Fair enough, I think I’m actually with you on that one lol I’d rather Gerrior if we’re talking OA forwards, but I’m sure he’s not leaving Ottawa either.

I actually really want to get rid of D'Amato. He's a an undersized, under performing liability out there. He's not performing like an offensive OA d man should
