This whole NCAA situation may change the fortunes of teams overnight. I hope the Gens can nail this one down.
They thought they had him signed as a rookie, had custom sticks made for him, contract was written. Then his mom bought the Milton Menace and turned them into King Rebellion and he then decided to play there and commit to BU

If he is leaving then I don’t see why he’d go USHL, especially if he is a relatively well ranked NHL prospect.

I can only imagine the discourse here if they didn't get the extra point after the Barlow between the legs in OT....

That was an incredibly entertaining OT as a neutral.

A pretty good road game tonight. Sennecke with 4 breakaways in regulation and only scores on 1 of them (that isn't going to happen often) and they still had the lead with 2 minutes left and Ottawa having to pull their goalie. Love the new look Gens PK. Much more aggressive and goes 6/6 tonight against the #2 ranked PP in the league. For anyone who missed it, Ritchie did his disgusting move again, and the Ottawa commentator outed himself as never watching hockey, as he was the only one who didn't see him pull that off in the NHL lol

What will happen first? He realize he did it on purpose OR he stip calling Sennecke, Bennett?

Those Hillebrandt glove saves late the difference tonight. Holy was he huge on that PK. Was kind of surprised how the Gens were able to play right with, and even outplay Barrie, for a lot of that game with how much better Barrie's depth is, but they did so credit to the Gens depth guys tonight. Barrie's already added 5 NHL drafted players to their roster this year while the Gens have only added 1. Barrie looks like the team you're building your team at the deadline to beat in the East right now

Impressive win to end the weekend strong. Excuses were there to be made with the 3rd of a 3-in-3 and a night game in Barrie followed by a day game at home while Kingston was off (I don’t subscribe to the teenagers can’t play a game 3 days in a row idea) but the Gens just came out and had a good game instead. 3-1 against Kingston this year now with 2 being dominant wins. I think the Gens are the best team in the East division and the 2nd best team in the conference behind Barrie at this stage. Add 2 depth F and a stud Dman and this could be a really, really good team

For those calling Torrance a plug just shows they know nothing about hockey. Big body. Blocks shots. Plays great defensively and adds offence. What more do you want?
I like that this coach is playing the 4th line. This will pay off huge down the road for a guy like Rogowski. But ya upgrade some experience in the depth department would be good. Maybe we see big Wang added to the backend in a week or so.😉

Wild. I've been saying Torrence is better OA over D'Amato for about 6 months now and was laughed at. Glad the intelligent fans knew all along he was a keeper.

Nope. He's a good 3rd pair D if he's 19. But can't use one of only 3 20 year old spots on a 3rd line offensive D who has 0 goals
100%. Just to clarify- I was kidding about him, was doing my best impression of someone who was advocating to keep him. I know there was rumours of a Konnor smith trade a while ago. With him being injured I assume they’d hold off on any trades regarding him until then? No way in hell should D’amato be with you guys past the deadline though. Just checked every team in the OHL’s roster and the only one that makes sense is Owen Sound IMO.

Or if kingston/brampton traded for a guy like Abraham/Owen Van Steensel/Swick then I could see D’amato finishing on one of those teams but right now it seems like either Owen Sound (with picks) for Smith or he will be Q bound

I think there will be some OA shuffles going on. Depending on how many teams still have four OAs as we reach the deadline, we could see some shuffling of the OA deck so to speak. There may be more OAs moving than we think. Some teams may not take OAs back in return depending on how they want to shape their rosters. They may not want certain one thinking that there will be others hitting the waiver wire.

No I know, you're good. It sucks for D'Amato because he's actually a pretty good player, but that poster was telling everyone he's Bobby Orr so now he looks like he's bad by comparison

Smith+2nd+3rd to get the stud D.

Then 2nd+3rd+4th+4th+4th+4th+4th+4th+Toms+Graham to add a couple depth Fs.

More than enough to do that.

An example would be:

F Lines:
Torrance(OA)-Ritchie-Sennecke
Barlow-Sinivuori-Middle 6 F
Middle 6 F
-Griffin-Buckley
O'Toole-Franssen-Rogowski
Others: Toms, Graham, Costello

D Pairings:
Konnor Smith or Tommy Budnick or Matt Mayich(OA)-Marrelli
Sandhu-Danford
Wang-Svozil
Rodriguez

Oster(OA)

It is going to be an interesting deadline.

We are starting to see a separation in the west but no team is really pulling away. Six teams at .571% and above. I don’t think we see SSM or Kitchener add but the other four might. Plus, Kitchener may not sell. They may look at the Rehkopf deal and say they did well at recouping picks in that deal and are happy to stay status quo. That takes two big deadline players off the market.

We have the four teams in the East, maybe more if you include Niagara, Sudbury, and Brantford.

There may be a lot of demand out there with very little supply when the deadline rolls around. Players like Romani, and Pinelli may be the best availabel up front. That is a far cry from what I assumed would be the case to start the year. If I am Saginaw, I am looking to move Misa for sure but their fanbase is suggesting otherwise, as in no chance he is moved. Kitchener with Misaljevic and Andonovski hold cards that may not move. What does Brantford do with Lardis and Thomas? Many feel Brantford will buy, not sell. Sudbury is loaded with picks. Musty returned. Will they sell or they to buy?

If this deadline turns out to be a whole bunch of teams trying to buy, all of a sudden players like Foster end up actually worth a hellova lot more than they should be. I’m curious to see how this all plays out but I think think this deadline could be a dud with a lot of teams pigeon holed into status quo.

Would be good for the Gens. They have an open OA spot (sorry D'Amato) while most of the other top teams don't so can add a really good player there. Gens already did their big F buy with Barlow (and didn't cost them Griffin or over market value in picks) so let everyone else overspend for the Musty/Pinelli type player that the Gens wouldn't be going after anyways and just swoop in and add a Charlie Paquette and Alex Pharand and call it a deadline.

Yes but I think my point is guys like Pharand and Paquette may end up being a lot more pricey than they should be.

I like the spot the Gens are in going into the deadline because they have a lot of flexibility with that OA spot that a lot of the other teams don't have the luxury of. If Konnor Smith becomes too pricey, use the Smith+2nd+3rd type package to go get a Cam Allen type and then use the open OA spot to go get a high end OA forward

Pharrand would be pricy, for sure; like a handful of fan bases thinking they could acquire Ride at a reasonable cost…see VanVliet Jan. ‘24

I think you would need to quantify that statement. The issue is that what is pricey for one person is cheap for another.

I’ve stated that if you want a solid OA at the deadline, the market is set at around a 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. If you want a super elite OA, the market is set at two 2nds, two 3rds, and two 4ths. If you want an elite 19 year old, look at the Rehkopf and Barlow deals and you get a sense of where that market is. These ones are relatively easy. No matter if the market is a buyer or seller market, these prices remain around the same.

Where is gets more sketchy is that 2nd and 3rd tier player. I pointed to Foster. GU pointed to Pharand. These are guys that hand around .75 to 1.00 points per game. They are solid players but fall into the complementary category. They don’t drive their lines but when you put them with good players, they perform very well. This is the tier of player that is heavily affected by supply and demand come the deadline.

It is my opinion that if you have 4 teams in each conference buying and two teams in each conference remaining status quo, that leaves 8 teams buying and eight teams selling. Of the eight teams selling, only four of them have players other teams want. That creates a situation where that team with second tier players start nudging the prices up more than normal.

I am not exactly sure where this market is right now but I see London, Erie, Saginaw, Windsor, Brampton, Barrie, OShawa, and Kingston as buyers. I see Kitchener and Brantford as status quo teams. Potentially SSM and Flint join those two teams in the status quo category. This is where it gets interesting. I see Sudbury and Niagara as potential buyers. If that happens, all of a sudden, the teams that are potential sellers shrinks dramatically. The Petes have nothing to buy. They aren’t in the conversation. That leaves Ottawa and North Bay in the East as the sellers. They join Guelph, OS, and Sarnia as potential sellers.

This sets up as a very tight market this year. Of course, some of those teams like Kitchener, Sudbury, and Saginaw could end up selling. Who knows? This is why the deadline may be very interesting.
