Not every Flyer fan needs to agree with the consensus. I don't hold Morin in high regard unlike the vast majority of Flyer fans. I hope I am wrong, but I do not see Morin as a crucial building block. Many non-Flyer fans would agree with my analysis of Morin. Objectively, will he be dominant defensively? Maybe. Is he really a top 4 d-man. For me it is a very open question and certainly not a clear yes.

I also think very highly of Orlov. To me it's a no brainer especially since the Flyers only have two defensman to protect in the expansion draft, Ghost and Gudas.

Finally, adding Orlov would potenially allow the Flyers to truly compete for the cup this year if Konencny and Provorov are impactful as rookies, a situation that is not entirely improbable.

Flyers fan here.. I have to say that I wasn't really wasn't impressed with some parts of Orlov's game...
He's made a few mistakes along the way that have cost the Caps when the game is on the line in pressure situations....

I hope the Flyers wouldn't give up on Big Morin, not for Orlov.

I'm pretty sure the Caps, trying to win now, don't want a 1st in 2027.

I believe the Oilers have to get better sometime and I don't think the Caps take the chance that an Oilers 1st ends up 15-20th and the Caps hurt the value of their own future asset garnered in trade by helping the Oilers get better today. A competent Top 4D for nothing in the way of a contributing piece right now makes the Oilers significantly better and I doubt there's a team in the league that is going to make a trade like that to Edmonton specifically.

I am more curious what a contract extension will end up looking like for him with Washington, as I see that to be the most likely option.
