tell you what.

why don’t you tell all your kind intelligent friends to stop attacking Canada… then the anti american sentiment will probably stop.

till then? you are asking a the victim to say nice things to the bully.
My wife had never heard of Winnipeg, or Manitoba, before meeting me

Most Americans don't give Canada any thought at all. They aren't attacking anyone. They would just like to see the problems that they face within their border addressed, including poverty, homelessness and opioid crisis

The anti-American sentiment in this country existed long before the tariffs. The amount of prejudice and stereotyping going on is borderline xenophobic

Ooooo. Are we actually allowed to have a conversation here about Justin Trudeau??
only off you’ll talk about harper mulroney and the undermining of Canadian industry, economy and the canadian middle class family economic security they created….

let’s add Chretien and Martin in…

hunh red corporate stooges and Blue corporate stooges ….and basically since the invention of neo-liberal economies…Capitalism has created a wealth gap beyond the Kings of france and the bread riot peasants,

your grocery bill, the tariff with Canada? just destroyed it.

the privatization agenda? ? has sold billions of acres to Chinese corporations, sold more to MegaCotporations….

So let’s all vote blue this time that will work…🙄🙄🙄🙄

the conservatives want us fighting “woke”….

when the Billionaires they serve
take more and more….. while the bottom 90% get less and less….

because we can’t afford it….

I think as Canadians, we need to have these frank and stern conversations, without becoming too toxic. But the fact of the matter is we have been brought up to believe they were never needed because the USA would NEVER hurt us. I'm thankful I stopped drink that American Kool-aid years ago.

Canada is extremely vulnerable to threats made by the USA because we've allowed ourselves to become vulnerable. This needs to end. Now. Or eventually we will be fully taken over by the USA through economic absorption, annexation or other more terrifying means.

we’re not the country who elected a man who is detaining deportees at Guantanamo Bay and spending millions to make it bigger.

i’m sure there were lovely Mennonites who had Russian families. Polish people who had great relations in Germany.

THE USA with a supermajority political mandate. pop vote, Congress, President and Supreme Court.

have initiated a trade war and threatened to annex my nation.

do you think i care about your allegiances and familial relations?

this is the problem.
thinking it’s “one guy”
it is the MAJORITY of America.

the majority are either malevolent or they are ignorant self obsessed dupes.

In the words of Trump: "Some, I assume, are good people"

It's basically 1 guy that's the problem but i just can't wrap my head around anyone listening to his lies and constant bullshit actually voting for him. It's really sad to me because the last thing he cares about is the little people, he cares about himself first, rich people next and that's it.

It's the stupidity of it all gets me, I can understand a policy that might hurt another nation if it legitimately benefits your country. But here in this case everyone loses, some more than others but everyone is worse off.

There's no reason we can't have the best standard of living in the world. Hopefully this is the wakeup call we need to start following the Scandinavian countries successes. Little to no immigration. Refine all our own resources. No property ownership by noncanadians. Real sentences with no gladue report. And a massive buy canadian only sentiment.

And yet, they voted for him by the millions. So it is not just 1 guy.

we cannot survive without immigration, Canada has been in population decline for decades.

without significant immigration there won’t be anyone to keep the lights on or grow food let alone pay into our pension funds or run hospitals. even private ones.

look it up.

I understand the circumstances, but could we please dial down the anti-american sentiment? My wife and her family are American, and two of my kids were born there. I lived in the deep south for 10 years and made many friends with many kind and intelligent people.

Sure, there are many decent Americans. There were many decent Germans in 1933 too. That country has started an unprovoked war on us. What do you expect? And don't say this is not a war. It is.

Were going to agree to disagree on the definition of "war"

Let's not get hyperbolic here

I don't think it's the majority. I'll be curious to see the approval numbers over the next year or so. I'm hearing lots of buyers remorse.

So the majority stayed home on election day. Does that somehow absolve them of responsibility?

They and the world are stuck with him and his rotten Congress and his rotten Supreme Court. I was going to say for 4 years, but he promised this would be the last time they would need to vote. And they elected him anyway.

We ain't seen nothin' yet.

Apparently we can't say anything negative about the USA, or we will be punished. This is what happens when we live in a US culturally dominant society.

With all the uncertainty ahead, it's time for us Canadians to truly unite and solidify a national identity, one that is fully distinguishable from south of the 49th. This needs to come in the form of political, cultural, linguistic (hello enforcement of Canadian English everyone), etc. movements.

I love being Canadian no matter where I live 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Just got back from shopping from groceries. Did my part to check labels and buy Canadian. even if it was not Canadian, I just bought a couple of German brand items (we obviously have a good relationship with the German leaders).

those who ignore history are what?….

this is exactly how the playbook worked.

divide bully attack economically then annex.

“lol governor of or new state of canada….”

then boom economic war

this isn’t new

What's even worse, this mentality of maintaining control and domination over Canada has existed in the USA long before Trump came along, and it will persist long after he is gone.

That applies to almost everything that man says or does. He's not smart. Though you need to give him credit for the way he has seized power. He has control of all 3 supposedly independent branches of the US government clutched firmly in his little hands. There are no checks and balances left. And he has no moral or ethical inhibitions.

I can't speak with anything other than a layman's knowledge of the subject.

The tariff's are alleged to be being put in place due to Canada's refusal to "police the border allowing immigrants & illegals drugs to come into the U.S. This will remain in place until the failure of our neighbours to police the border is addressed & solved."

Fair question. Who polices the border going into the U.S.? Isn't it U.S. Customs and Border Protection & the US Department of Homeland Security?

Follow up. Why is Canada responsible for the failure of these U.S. agencies?

Am I missing something? If not why is this totally ignorant reasoning being allowed to justify new tariff's & why hasn't a single politician, pundit or journalist pointed this out.

The whole "border" issue is BS. It takes maybe 2 minutes on Google to realise this. Some of us are old enough to remember the whole "Weapons of Mass Destruction" lie, to justify the Iraq War. This is nothing new...

I don't know how you can not see it as war. It is not a military attack but it certainly is an economic one. It is even widely characterized as a "trade war". He is trying to force our government to take orders from him.

Are you just ignoring the threat of annexation? Part of how we got here is people continually thinking that Donald doesn't mean what he says. He can't mean it. It is just too outrageous. But he does mean what he says.

Manitoba is in a good spot to weather the storm so to speak. We are fairly divisified in what we do and if we play our cards right with Hydro,Foresty, mining and Oil/Gas we should come out of this strong.

The main goal down there is to crash the stock market. Hedge funds are betting billions that will happen and the supe rich are ready to pluck the carcass of 401ks when people panic
100 percent. For reference, and for your viewing pleasure. Mr George Carlin had this figured out decades ago. ...

Germany just rejected spending 5% of GDP on NATO. And Europe will support Greenland so we have some Euro sympathizers.
