OPPF Draft 2020 - Draft Thread 2

Edit: I guess it would have to take a perfect storm of drafting poorly (scrappy drafted quite well at the beginning of the draft, before getting a few forward positions mixed up)...
There's an element of (to recycle a poker-term) rabbit-chasing in the next question-- but I'd still like to know...

Devil?
@ImporterExporter ?

If scrappy hadn't selected Sweeney Schriner at pick 30, would either of you considered him for your third-round selection?

The shape of my sculpture might have been different- perhaps significantly so, if Schriner had been there for me @ 34 overall.

Voting will start tomorrow at 13h EST, I will send emails tomorrow when I have a few minutes.

Will vote later tonight at some point. Doing the Christmas tree and homemade pizza with my son and wife tonight.

Eight ballots received.

Draft Retrospective- all-positive-vibes edition
(in keeping with tradition, trying to avoid mentioning any of my own here...)

Biggest Steal(s) of the draft:
Montreal Division- I like Larry Robinson at 93 even more than Guy Lafleur at 95, or Howie Morenz at 64.
Original 6 except Montreal Division- I've very rarely said kind words about Bill Cowley, but him at 172 is insane value.
Non-original 6 Division- Jan Suchý at 121 was pretty handy.
Smartest/best strategic pick in the draft:
Three selections within 10 picks of each other served notice that I was swimming in a shark-pool... and maybe contributed to a reach on my part-
RB taking Bill Cook with pick 21. [It's a fair ways down to the next Ranger.]
BB taking Paul Coffey with pick 26. [Allows builds in different directions.]
scraps taking Sweeney Schriner with pick 30. [Mainstream Hall-of-Famer from a Franchise that offers about literally nothing else of value to anyone.]
A player finally getting respect in the draft: Michael Peca. [Dammit. Another 'F***-me-Award']
A player you've discovered in this draft: Twin mentions- George Hay & Art Duncan (Duncan would go un-drafted... but I looked at him.)
Most underrated player taken: Vladislav Tretiak
Favorite scoring line of the draft: Lindsay-Morenz-Jágr
Favorite checking line of the draft: J. Holik-M.Schmidt-Recchi
Best assembled line of the draft: Sid Abel-Mario Lemieux-Mike Bossy
Favorite pairing of defensemen: Gotta be Stevens-Harvey
A funny/dramatic story (related to the ATD) you've learned about since the start of the draft: [Here I've got to mention my own guy...] Frank Fredrickson's exploits in The Great War, culminating with his "be-sure-to-save-the-violin!" moment.

We're two and a half hours past the deadline and I've got 7 ballots now. That's good enough, so I'll post the results:

Montreal Wanderers – San Jose Rubber Puckies 4-3
1st star Jean Béliveau, 2nd star Mike Bossy, 3rd star Martin Brodeur

Montreal Maroons – Kelowna Rockets 4-2
1st star Jacques Plante, 2nd star Bobby Clarke, 3rd star Sidney Crosby

Expected result, but always happy to even make it this far in a draft.

Congrats to the winners I'm sure @BenchBrawl & @ImporterExporter will give us a quality final
