Blue Jays GDT: Opening Day!

I was thinking when they were down 3 it would be hard to come back because of the bottom 4 in the lineup. Turns out the bottom four were a big reason why they won. Took advantage of Baltimore’s bullpen situation.

I agree but I’d still like a lead off guy.
What are Vladdy’s stats batting 2nd vs batting 3rd? In my mind when he’s 3rd he hits with a lot more power, but I could be way off.
I wouldn’t mind Roden or Gimenez leading off. Knocks everyone down a spot and gives these guys some more RBI opportunities

They just have to cut down on these mistakes running the bases. They have been pretty good at it early, but the issues from last couple of seasons reared their ugly head lately. Gotta nip it in the bud.
Yeah, I think they’ve been sound overall on the bases, but the running errors have been at sone key points in games.
I also feel like there’s another level they could reach with their assertiveness on the base paths. Very aggressive most of the spring.
Also, Jays hot .350 today with risp. I don’t think we’d have guessed that.

That guy might be Jonaton Clase by the end of the year.
He’s pretty electric.
Once they settle in, Roden or Will Wayner might claim the role, too.

Those guys will have to heat up a lot. When you turn over your lineup back to the 1 spot, it has to be dangerous for the other team. It is dangerous now with Bo hitting up there. Can those guys be at that level at some point?

I like to think so.
Minor league history of great obp, and good refutations for barreling and solid contact.
The big league adjustment is a huge hurdle of course, but they’ve both had plenty of real good at bats. I’m hopeful with their pedigree and smarts that they’ll get there.

Replacing Lukes with Varsho will certainly help! I thought he was a good depth OFer last season but I’m done with the guy

It's frustrating because he's look fine in the field (surprisingly solid in CF) and good enough at the plate (I like his approach and he has good at bats) but you just can't give away outs with stupid plays like that.

Yeah. He’s not so secure in his role given the internal competition that he can afford to make costly errors.
However, I will say, that id rather him as a 4th/5th OF than the kids if they’re not gonna be getting regular playing time (4-5gamws a week).
In that case I’d rather they keep honing in AAA and maybe displace him at the end of the year.

Not that it means much this early in the season when things are this tight, but they're half a game out of first in the AL.
I was going to say wtf are you talking about but then i looked at the standings.

Nobody in the AL has more than 9 wins with noted powerhouses *checks notes* Detroit and Los Angeles sitting alongside the Jays at the top.

Still early as you said but that's still a weirdly bunched together picture.

I feel like the opportunities Roden is getting is consistent enough that I wouldn’t want Lukes occupying that spot. Last thing I’d want to see is ~400 ABs going to another Tapia type player.
