Vladdy & Tony need to pray to Jobu.Maybe an afternoon game against Buehler will yield a HR
That should make all of the whiners happy.Holy crap Vladdy post game in English no translator!
I couldn’t care less how many home runs they hit, most important thing is we’re winning games.
Good. Arash sucked and was probably the most Anti-CFL person in all of media. It was obnoxious. That should make all of the whiners happy.
He did quite a bit in English last year as well, probably has a lot to do with A rash my Danny being gone, I think he was guilty of misquoting Vladdy earlier in his career when his English wasn’t as good
Little known contractual clause.Holy crap Vladdy post game in English no translator!
Kirk has been the worst hitter so far so i agree 100%.Huge win. Pitching was fantastic.
I still would like Kirk batting 8th until he gets going.
It's weird because he is hitting the ball hard, but he is chasing. If he stops chasing, he will be fine.Kirk has been the worst hitter so far so i agree 100%.
It's one thing to not get anything going, but it's much worse when you're swinging at the first pitch 80% of the time.
Genuinely surprised they didn’t bottle Gausman’s performance.
Also genuinely surprised at how good Vladdy’s English was post game. Seemed pretty effortless. Dude doesn’t need an interpreter at all lol.
Just catching up on the PVR'd game. Weird situation in the extras where I was getting annoyed that they would have to pinch run for Hoffman after he only threw 7 pitches in the 9th because they chose to abandon the DH to get Vladdy at 1st. We criticize Schneider when he messes something up. I know it's his job to know the rules but I've never seen that setup where you give up the DH and the pitchers spot is the last guy out the prior inning in extras so he'd be running, and has few enough pitches you want to bring him back out. Kudos to Schneider for knowing that it defaults to the guy before so Hoff could go 2 innings if he needed.
I wonder if that's an automatic thing or if you have the choice to use the pitcher to run if you want to. For example lets say instead of Gimenez - Springer(Hoffman) to end the 9th it was Kirk - Springer(Hoffman), and then Hoffman throws 20 pitches in his first inning. Could the Jays choose to use Hoffman as the runner and then pinch run for him with Straw knowing Hoffman won't be back out anyway rather than be forced to use Kirk as the runner.
Yeah, for all the shit Schneider takes that was a pretty shrewd move.
I don’t know. Hearing some of his younger English interviews and they seemed a lot more awkward and rough. He probably always understood everything, but hearing him today, it was the first time he seemed fluent. I didn’t watch much last season so I probably missed some similar examples. He’s always been able to, which is why it was so weird he didn’t. He grew up spending summers in the US when his dad was a player.
Schneider isn't that bad. He buggled up the Bassitt pull. Should have let him have one more batter. If the bullpen does its job, though, it isn't an issue. He has given Roden a lot of opportunities. He was a game or two, too slow in switching Springer and Kirk. I still think Kirk should be lower until he gets going, but I understand trying to get the catcher you just signed patience.Yeah, for all the shit Schneider takes that was a pretty shrewd move.
the jays have had above average staring pitching but below average hitting for like three straight seasons now. 2022 was the last season that the Jays had a deep and productive offensive lineup. Last year in 2024, even in a terrible season for the team, our starting pitchers as a group still played better than people think despite aging, regression, overuse and injuries. They were under pressure to be perfect but lost games anyway, even though it wasn’t their fault, because both the inconsistent offense and bullpen often let them down. They struggled to get run support in most games and the relievers couldn’t save games for them. Pitching when you know you have to be perfect night in, night out takes a huge toll physically and mentally, when the offense isn't producing the pitching numbers look a lot worse and the pitchers are much more stressed out. They need to start hitting some homers. They've been lucky as hell with the pitching so far this year.
That luck eventually runs out, and they're gonna start losing because they can't score.
Even in the Mets series, the pitching was solid but they couldn't score anything.
The Jays' offense last year was really bad. This year, there are signs of hope despite some struggles. They are hitting the ball harder. Walking at a good rate, and they have a high average. @Discoverer had a good post on this earlier today.the jays have had above average staring pitching but below average hitting for like three straight seasons now. 2022 was the last season that the Jays had a deep and productive offensive lineup. I understand that they need to get more offense... but how has the pitching been lucky as hell? They've been dominant. That's not luck. They need to start hitting some homers. They've been lucky as hell with the pitching so far this year.

I’m impressed by the quality of at bats by the youngsters Wagner and Roden. They’re both smart players who know what is required depending on the situation. Pretty good defensively too.The Jays' offense last year was really bad. This year, there are signs of hope despite some struggles. They are hitting the ball harder. Is it not rather basic to know the rules?Yeah, for all the shit Schneider takes that was a pretty shrewd move.
