Schneider can’t hit velocity and they would have been better off just leaving Roden in.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of bunting, but I think those were reasonable situations to use them. But once you've moved them over you need the next guy to put the ball in play, so... you bring in a guy with major swing-and-miss issues who struggles against velocity to face the guy throwing 99? No thanks.

Can't complain about the hitting except for the power. Need Vladdy and Santander to get going.

Pitching was solid. I didn't like bunting with Clement up but putting Davis in there in that situation was dumb.

Other than that, solid game. Hopefully they can steal one tomorrow.

I didn't like the Wagner bunt, but the Clement one seems reasonable to me once the D messed of the Wagner one. I don't dislike Schneider as some do and am willing to give him some chances and the Left/Right swap in theory makes sense but I'm not doing it in that spot. He needs to earn the trust in the handful of starts he gets before he gets a crucial spot like that.

Yeah, it's the spot for Schneider that didn't make sense. The bunts suggest they were playing for one run (which is reasonable in that spot) so putting the ball in play is the most important thing for the next batter. And that's Schneider's biggest weakness.

Just stick with Roden there.

I’ve been so impressed with Wagner and Roden, the moment seems to never be too big. I would never have taken out Roden for D Schneider, Roden would have put it in play unlike Schneider who strikes out too often.

Vlad was at 6 homers until late June last year! then he caught fire and finished with 30. I sure as hell dont want to wait that long, as we know last year it was over by then.
