Blue Jays GDT: Opening Day!

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Where are we going to get our home runs from this year besides Santander and Guerrero? We need more home runs - am I crazy in saying that? I feel like that is the primary difference maker for whether this team does anything this year.

Varsho and Bo will likely hit 20+ each. After that, they have a few young guys who can hit homers. I also think an increase in team production will occur.

Roden and the Babe need to get 15 each.

Bo exists. He's usually good for 20-25. Varsho hit 18 and that was with a hitting coach that has rocks for brains.

So close!

I'm actually really happy with that lineup. I always half expect them to give opening day starts to veterans over the young guys, so part of me still thought they would have Straw in CF with one of Wagner/Roden on the bench.

I would still prefer one of them in the leadoff spot, but they've got the right guys starting today, and the batting order is good enough.

Weird lineup. Gimenez in the 4 hole with Bo leading off feels like it should be flipped.
I think I prefer this lineup over that idea - Gimenez isn't exactly the kind of on-base machine you want in the leadoff spot.

I would prefer Gimenez lower in the lineup, though. I get that they probably don't want to put too much pressure on Roden too soon, but I think he's a decent fit in that role. You could just swap the two of them, and Gimenez's speed would be a great asset for when the lineup turns over.

We are acquiring Lu Bob in May

Why start Gimenez in the 4 hole? Should be hitting 7, 8, or 9 IMO
Gimenez at 4 is truly WTF. He might be their worst hitter in the lineup.
That’s the issue with this team. Other than the big 3, they have a bunch of 7, 8, 9 hitters. They need someone to emerge and hit above their weight. Or one of the young guys like Wagner or Roden to emerge.
Yeah, they need more offense. But they have better hitters than Gimenez.

Maybe Wagner will have a great start and hit in the 4 hole. Also, they don't want Kirk hitting infront of Gimenez because then he can't run as much. Not gonna hit Clement 4th. Springer? no. What are the other options? I agree, that it sucks. That's on the front office.

I would look at Wagner, Roden, and Clement all ahead of Gimenez. Probably even Springer too (his xwOBA was not that bad last season).
