I said it before but this core we have should be taking notes on what it takes to win. Hearing what thachuk just said was wrong with him and he still puts up? But I gotta hear excuses on why Bratt was a no show this playoffs because he was hurt. Gtfoh our soft core needs to man up

I mean Greer, Boqvist, and Vitek are all JAGs that could have been replaced by any one of hundreds of NHL players and it would have made no difference. I’m happy for them but let’s not pretend like our franchise would be any different if those guys stayed.

You were all wrong about Nosek though, I tried telling you guys he was injured all year and the guy we saw in 2024 wasn’t the real Nosek. Despite the track record, despite the fact we lost McLeod, despite the fact that a defensively responsible penalty killing bottom-6 faceoff guy is what we sorry needed all of this year and he was already on the roster - nope. Everyone was eager to jump to conclusions.

Edmonton just isn't deep enough. They'll only be carried as far as McDrai will take them. The majority of their forwards were non-existent this entire series.

I know it was in the off-season but when you bring in skinner as reinforcements and the panthers bring in at the deadline marchand it’s just not fair.

I said it earlier in the series the panthers were the way better team this entire series. If it wasn’t for their own blunders they sweep the oilers. Give up 2 goal third period lead game 1. Give up a 3-0 lead and lose game 4 that’s it.

Semantics, but this series was the biggest 6-game blowout ever. It wasn't even close.

It has nothing to do with them staying for the 100th time, they never replaced properly. No one cares about Vitek because he clearly did his job in 22-23 but the other two could've been 13F's at the worst and they decided to let them move on for no reason. Boqvist being a Swiss army player to where he was playing for a Cup winner in the top 6 in the playoffs after being a scratch is more f***ing valuable than the Justin Dowling and the dogshit we iced in Utica/in the playoffs v Carolina. Our best forward was playing with Dawson Mercer after being mediocre for 1.5 years + Erik Haula who decided he wanted to retire.

Nosek is fine, he had an awful year with play + injuries but again these guys should not be hard to replace and Fitz has made it seem like it's clipping an ingrown hair off his body. Again, this is why I said that the Devils roster is fine, the issue will be their management getting to the next step. The players are good enough at the top end. If Fitz botches another offseason, he's out the door next year

After tonight, I never want to hear shit about our core when the two of the 3 best players in the world are gonna be 0-2 in the Cup Final
This is silly.
I can't imagine losing 5 cups in 6 or 7 years like Perry. That's gotta be absolutely brutal.
5 in 5 if I recall correctly.
Our defensive structure and goaltending with a healthy squad absolutely could give Florida a series with the right depth additions.

Edmonton's defensive core is rotten and they have no goaltending.
Florida would absolutely smoke us. Outright sweep if not a gentleman's sweep.

I mean you have to figure one of these years Florida runs out of gas after three straight playoffs, especially if they lose Bennett and Thachuk’s injury is a career alterer.

Yes, it's silly to mention that no matter how good your top end of players that depth is what wins at the end lol.

Tell me what Evander Kane, Adam Henrique, and most of Edmonton's bottom 6 did in this Final

I see what you’re saying and of course they aren’t the big guns that propelled Florida but you’re doing them a disservice. All those JAGs somehow played a pretty intergal part throughout the whole playoffs though. They all contributed some big goals and pulled way above their weight. We got MacDermid though.

If you focus too much on building your team to beat one specific team you could set yourself up for failure.

I'm less worried about stylistic matchups at this point than I am with having the talent and depth to beat any good team in a series.
100% agree. Let’s try beating any team in the playoffs first.
