OOT scoreboard 2025 playoff edition

I don’t know why people get so bent out of shape about DoG being a penalty. Keep the puck on the ice. It’s not at all the same thing as icing where the puck is still within the rink. We should doing everything we can to discourage players from flinging pucks up high on the glass with no regard for whether or not it goes out of play.

I also can’t understand how anyone would want to see the referees being given more discretion on calls. There is no way fans would complain less if DoG was a judgement call. It would be a f***ing shitshow.

Great 1st game. I really hope Florida wins it. As much as I love Henrique I'd like to see Florida get to 2 Cups so the Devils dont trail Edmonton 6 to 3 in the Cup count.

I am still annoyed at that Bennett goal. Just before he awkwardly and purposely flops backwards into the goalie, he got clipped way harder in the back of the skate by Walman and manages to stay standing with absolutely no issue. Why? Because there was no shot coming at the time. A couple seconds later with a shot coming at him he is barely grazed by the breeze of a passing skate and launches backwards into the goalie. That play completely changed the flow of the game and the refs didn't even bother actually looking at it.

Good on Bennett I guess. If they are gonna let you get away with it, you may as well do it. The double standard across the league just drives me nuts.

and that's how you expose an aggressive pk
also that McDavid was in the low left corner forced the PK to come out of its total pack it in, in front of Bob. Because you may ignore Perry or Nugent-Hopkins there and continue to take away Draisaitl, but you aren’t ignoring McDavid.

Getting McDavid into different rotations on the power play will be a key to success for the Oilers.

Ultimately it did not decide the game. No harm no foul.

The catalyst was Corey Perry...The point was they were able to pass the puck really fast and make quick decisions. That same play, anyone on the devils would've coughed the puck up on that aggressive play by whoever it was on Perry.

No one on the Devils PP1 is drawing that defender down like McDavid did besides Jack and the 24-25 Devils couldn't finish for shit compared to arguably the best finisher in the league on the receiving end of that McDavid pass

of course. These are just opinions. Whatever impact the goal had Edmonton overcame it so I didn't see it as determinative but maybe I am missing something in the context?

I only meant that I disagree with the bold "no harm no foul". I think it sets a precedent that doing illegal things is ok if you hide it well. And if you are on Florida.

don't care about delay of game...trapezoid still annoys me though
Want trapezoid gone and puck over glass delay of game to be a 1 minute penalty. Its own category.

It really doesn't make any sense that in playoff OT or late in games, you can trip a guy in a scoring position and it not get called...then get f'd by puck over glass. Basically if a ref crew is letting them play, it isn't right that a puck over glass play can have such an outsized impact on the game. We've seen this happen a lot in playoff OTs the past few years alone.

I'm in favor of one minute penalties, sure, but I don't think the league is. (There should also be 3 minute penalties, or it's at least absurd that things like boarding and elbowing are equivalent to hooking and holding).

The Devils got totally screwed by puck over glass in Game 7 of the 2012 series against the Panthers, Upshall grabs Zidlicky with both arms and twists his body such that Marek threw it over the glass, Florida tied it up on that power play. Don't care. It's a good thing to have in the rulebook, off the glass and out sucks and if you try it 50 times you're liable to put 1 or 2 of those in the seats.

This shouldn't overshadow what a great game it was last night.

so then dont limit it just to the d zone have it called all over the ice if the puck leaves without a deflection its a penalty. i would even take the benches and call it for that too you risk a pass off the ice where theres not any glass and it goes into the bench then thats on the player.

i think thats pretty good thinking of course it will never happen. i would say make anything more then 2mins the same as a major score as many as you want.
